- Easts' clinching try came in sensational circumstances - with Kurt Sorensen sent off in the aftermath. Ron Giteau scored the try, but the man who passed it, Ian Barkley, was 'crashed' by Sorensen.
- The gale force wind that was behind Easts in the first half, dropped to a gentle zephyr in the second, and referee Jack Danzey penalised the Sharks' scrum heavily.
- Hatch and Rogers worked particularly hard.
