Mudlark Sharks!

From RLW:
  • Hardy, Dane Sorensen and Miller churned through the mud to keep the financially desperate Sharks in the race for the final five.
  • Hardy displayed the potential which made him Australian Schoolboys captain a few years ago, with a tremendous performance at lock. Sorensen showed the tight props how to play a game in the wet, and Miller again led by example.
  • Cronulla were far the better team, enjoying a massive territorial advantage.
  • Cronulla rounded up Sydney half Steve Mortimer, and with him out of the play, the Bulldogs had as much bite as a toy poodle with distemper.
  • Miller turned Canterbury around with deep kicks to such an extent that the Bulldogs rarely got outside their own half.
  • The Sharks scored midway through the first half when Kurt Sorensen got a good pass away to strong centre Gardner, and he took on Canterbury fullback Greg Sankey to score in the corner.
  • Rookie prop Withall is another find for Cronulla, and he toiled hard.
