- John Dorahy kicked the winning field goal from 30 metres out, in a match which was appealing only for its closeness.
- Only Rowland Beckett impressed for Cronulla. His probing runs made plenty of ground but he lacked support. He also opened a gap near halfway for Kurt Sorensen to storm through and score.
- Gardner's try came following overhead passes from the Sorensen brothers.
- Mark Wakefield at half was useful and there were moments when Gardner, Miller and Kurt Sorensen took the eye, but all too rarely. Chris Withall was particularly active in his 31 minutes on the field.
