If this bloke has been elevated into our top 30, then where does that leave Seggy?
Assuming Ronaldo is now no. 29 (by replacing Ava) and we won’t likely have no. 30 until just before or at the June 30 deadline, does that mean the ship has sailed on Seggy?.

If a hooker gets injured between now and then or he actually starts playing well there's a contract spot there.

If he can't start stringing decent Cup games between now and then he's **** out of luck probably.

Yep, that’s how I see it but what about the contract he already signed (and rejected by the NRL)?
Is that contract now worthless or can Seggy and his manager force us to honour the original deal if we now have the space?

It also raises the question as to whether or not someone can be displaced from the top 30. If someone gets their contract upgraded so it is $1 more than player 30 then technically they should take over that spot. I’m not sure anyone knows whether this can be done at this time of the year.

Another option for Segy would be to add him as a development player. That would mean they can sign him at any time and he would not count against the cap, but the club could apply for him to play in the event of an injury to a Brailey because there is not another hooker in the top 30.

Rejected is rejected I'd say. I can't imagine we'd be required to resubmit a rejected contract for any reason.

He could approach Bomber and say you promised me a gig and see where that get's him. I would expect Seg or manager approached Bomber ASAP when Ava left.

If he's been as bad as people are saying Bomber's answer might have been there still a roster spot left, you're gunna have to play your way into it.

Segey's NSW Cup page is not pretty viewing.

The stats back up the opinions from those that have seen him that he hasn't been playing well.
Only 85% tackle efficiency, average running distance of 23.6m and 1 try assist, 2 line break assists all seems very poor for Cup, compared to what he has previously been capable of.

Seggy in his prime would destroy NSW cup. He really isn't even a shadow of his former self.

That's an understatement. He's clearly not interested in putting in.

Whether it's because he now sees no clear path to the NRL with Blayke being extended or he is just lacking any or all motivation.

If rumours of Dogs and Eels offering him a contract but he wanted to stay at the Sharks might not be because of wanting to stay with us but perhaps he lacked motivation to put in the effort required of NRL at another club and the expectations that went with it? Just a thought.

Yeah who knows but I have zero desire to have him in our 30 man squad tbh. You'd expect someone in his position to be shooting the lights out rather than being mediocre.

It's good for Blayke though. Chances are we wouldn't have seen him in the NRL this year (barring injury) if we had a fully fit Seggy from round 1.

Segy would have defn been in the 17 if he was on our books and fit imo. So it gave Blayke an opportunity perhaps earlier than expected but certainly warranted. I'd like to see him get more time though.

Back to Ronaldo - big step up for the kid. He's obviously highly rated, wonder if Ferris' broken hand meant Ronaldo got the jump on him as I thought Ferris was more rated ? Ferris is back from injury btw this weekend.

Yes and no. Mulitalo has always been the higher rated, but he is still u20 eligible so had Ferris been fit and in form maybe he would have gotten the opportunity based purely on the fact that he has to play for Newtown but Mulitalo can go back down.

Start of 2018: Xerri, Lumelume, Mulitalo, Ferris ... in that order
Now: Xerri, Mulitalo, Lumelume/Ferris ... in that order

... and Lumelume's stock is falling.

His weight isn't.

Whilst I don't think we need to keep Segy I'm glad their honoring a hand shake deal.

Seggy at his absolute best is worth us keeping and have in our top 17.

Problem is, he’s nowhere near his best.

It didn't mention length of deal ? I would have thought there would be an extension in there also. Perhaps he was already locked up ?

I think he's pretty capable on the wing, would like to see him take a wing spot next to Morris next year (or maybe this year) and then take Morris' spot in 2021.

He's a big body too.
