This was obviously done before Carney.

1 - Not happy at all with the 'four wingers'. Mentioned though that Mills and Wright are young.
2 - Not happy with halves ability to attack in the strike zone.
3 - Says Townsend played too many games but was due to Kelly injury.
4 - Graham not a true half, will be a competitive lock.
5 - Gardner was injured in round 8 and needed surgery but is tough.
6 - Robson can lead team around. Townsend will be a year older.
7 - Seems very happy with new coaching structure. Felt like he was on his own before.

Based on the above you'd think he'd be aiming for Kelly/Carney or Robson/Carney but open minded.

It's nice to know Matty Wright is still in the mix of things. Like Flanno said, he's still only young; and plenty of people seem to forget that (much like with Chad)...

I love flannos honesty when reading that article. Really puts into perspective what his ideals are and that he isnt taking a weak approach to his job. Even though we had already assumed what he said it was nice to hear it come from his own mouth.

The interesting points that I take out of it is where he said he has coached robson before.
Obv he was impressed when he last coached him and was impressed with his leadership. For once im now excited about that signing as it means he will understand the ins and outs of his game alot more than what we were expecting.

Man I love that we actually have a coach that wont give poor excuses for loses and even more a coach that can actually organise a recruitment drive that will hopefully bring the success it deserves

He gets defensive about starting from scratch. I wouldn't think it's such a bad thing for this club based on the last few seasons... keep the few things/players that are working for us and renew the rest.

if Mills gets more time i'd say it is at right centre, pommeroy's old spot, with Williams on his outside. thats where he played when put back into the 20's and did a good job. he's not a winger in my opinion. Frizell or Bakuya are probably the backups if not getting a spot in the backrow.
Wright would be left wing /centre which leaves Best as the other left centre/winger, but i did hear he has put his hand up to retire if we signed someone better than him.

Where did you hear that ....about best offering to retire if they find someone better???? I have never heard it...

After reading this article ... Really like flanno ... I really hope he is successful!

I would also say Townsend Is probably the least favored option by flanno to partner up with carney..... Infact to me it sounds like robson has first shot with carney ... flanno mentions about rob son's ability to steer a team around the park which is probably what needs to be besides carney... Kelly isn't known for that..

it didn't come from the horses mouth if that what you mean.. but i was under the impression it was common knowledge. Anyway with preseason starting next week and no signing's seemingly in the pipeline, i'd say he's polishing his boots ready for a premiership swansong

Lack of try scoring, lack of execution, lack of halves, lack of outside backs. Yes yes yes yes Shane, good article, you are right, we all know these are our problem areas. But I cant find in this article where you take some resposibility for this.

Why couldnt the halves execute and get the ball in their hands more?
Why did you allow Paul Gallen to touch the ball 2 and 3 times in a set and play like a halfback?
Why couldnt we see Paul Gallen used as a decoy more like we did two times at the end of the year which we scored tries off?
Why did we continously see five forward hitups in the opposition half followed by a useless kick to the corner?
Why did Douglas and Snowden countless times on the 4th tackle attacking the line hit the ball up and tip it on to each other for a useless play?
Why couldnt Pomeroy and Best get some simple clean ball in a bit of space to use their size and strength on smaller players?

Was this your game plan Shane?

Because our team is **** lol.

We may have solved the halves problem in terms of personel but the rest of the issues we will have to wait until 2012 to see what unfolds.

Flanno more or less inherited that team, it's players and legacy mentality. He gets a fresh start after a full season of games and recruitment under his belt.

He will need to take more responsibility for things next year regardless of the talent he has or hasn't got available.
