Can't see that this has been posted. The entire article is worth a read regarding teams stadiums and relative profits. I've copied the Sharks part below. We need to drink more beer to bring that catering figure up... ;)

CRONULLA SHARKS

Remondis Stadium

Capacity: 22,000

Expenditure

Operational costs: $70,000 (Ticketing, security, police, big screen)

Maintenance/utilities: $48,000 (The Sharks own their ground, so they are responsible for the maintenance of the stadium)

Total: $118,000

Revenue

Merchandise: $17,000 per game

Corporates: $145,000 per game

Ticket sales: $93,000 per game

Signage: $40,000 per game

Catering: $10,000 per game

Total: $305,000 per game

The Sharks are the only club in Sydney to own their own ground. Their game day expenditure is far greater than any other team given they have to pay for the maintenance and upkeep of the ground. The Sharks don't have a major sponsor but still managed average crowds in excess of 13,000 the past two seasons. They have started 2014 with a home crowd average of 11,903 for their first four games.

Surly we're missing something here.

I would have thought making just under $200,000 a game would be good.

What's not being factored in is the operational costs of the football club, i.e. Coach, CEO, Training staff etc, not to mention advertising costs etc

The good news for clubs going to ANZ it gives the 9RL a nice little basket of clubs to pick from to relocate around the country.
To me home ground is what sport is all about. I think the game is losing the plot thing big venue is the most important .

To break down money of grounds is ridiculous. Even clubs financial status shouldnt matter.

Fans dont come to games to look at bank statements.

1 game per season each club should have a game played at homebush or something (double header maybe).

Spiritual home fields still rule. People dont say i cant wait to go down to anz today or had a good time at anz today. Win or lose you can leave remondis knowing the experience was positive. Same with manly at brookie or penrith at centrebet or tigers at leichardt

Easy. All you need is 170 people to buy a hoodie at $100, even less people need to buy an overpriced jersey. Throw in a few hats and scarves, and a mini footy for the kid.

17,000 on merch is easily do-able.

Caps are what 20-30 bucks?

Jerseys $150-$200 (depending)

Jumpers $80

then ya got the other ****, ponchos, scarves, beanies, foot balls, t shirts, jackets, posters etc.
