Reason why our attack stinks and stalls

Fast play the ball, everyone ~10m away from the play the ball losing all advantage.
On the 4th or 5th tackle maybe I can forgive this, but, on the 1st? This isn't right, off a quick play the ball we need the forwards tight in to roll through.

Then while the dummy half is organising that, you have your halves getting the set plays ready.

We line up this deep all the time and it makes me want to headbutt my TV

If we have a plan we don’t follow it. Tricky is an off the cuff player, Nicho likes structure , when we get it wrong we look like amateurs.. I’ve been a huge critic of Nicho but he needs a plan. We just seem to be caught between 2 styles

I don't think either is what you just mentioned, I think Tricky is the more structured and traditional halfback, while Hynes is the more quick fast plays. We've got both of them trying to play both styles actually.

Not trying to start the 6 v 7 debate btw

what are you expecting?
the ball hasnt even been played yet, you have 3 guys ready to take the ball, trindall, hiroti and jesse.
there are no obvious gaps in the rosters defense to aim at, rooster in the ruck so can only go one side.
by the time the ball is picked up, everyone will be five metres in front of where they are.

Watch that game and see that play.

Brailey picks it up and scoots at the retreating inside defenders - absolutely no one comes with him, until Hiroti finally realises. Brailey had to start running backwards to turn him under - wasted play.

Rugby League is a pretty simple game. We had no success in the second half standing this deep trying to run structured plays every couple of plays - yet we were untouchable in the first half where it was quick, on the front foot movements through the middle which created the space for our tries.

We go away from what works on a repeatedly.

This is where Brailey needs to control his forwards in the ruck. He needs them, and even Kennedy to stand tight with him.

Give time for Hynes and Trindall to watch the defence and spot the weakness in the defensive line.

Everything just seems so rushed and desperate to score off each play. No patience in this team.

It’s an odd one because that’s what was happening in the first half with great success.

It’s overly simplifying it, however I can’t help but feel this team has an attitude / fitness problem. Players too often are happy to walk and take plays off, not being attentive to what’s unfolding in front of them.
