It went up last Wednesday mate, not 30 mins ago!
I’m referring to this weeks actual Rd 1 team list.
Are you suggestion the list I posted (and the list posted by Gards in the game day thread today) was released a week ago?
The one we’re Tracey was not listed due to injury?

Ah ok mate. Sorry, I thought you were saying I’d only put the game thread up 30 mins ago.

With Round 1 almost upon us, this thread will probably waft off into the ether pretty soon. But before it does, here is a question I'd like to ask you all.

For our first game we have the following top 30 players injured or suspended:

Cameron McInnes
Wade Graham
Braydon Trindall
Franklin Pele
Jack Williams
Connor Tracey

Had they all been available against the Raiders, who of these would make the top 17 and who would they replace?

Totally forgot about him Burgo but I don't think he would be in the running anyway. I noticed that the NRL.com casualty ward doesn't list Jack Williams so they are just as clueless.
Yeah - agreed on both counts.

To answer the original question…

Graham to start, Wilton to bench
Tracey in, Ikuvalu out (Ronnie to wing)
McInnes to start, BHU to bench (Dale to prop)
Add Williams and Trindall to the bench
Tolman goes to 18th man
Fifita out

Now you’ve got an 6 man bench.

I would pick

BHU
Williams
Hunt
Only one of Wilton, Talakai, Trindall

Having McInnes and Tracey in your 13 makes the bench “injury cover” thing much easier.

Also - given that Wade is out for a while, it’s possible that Wilton plays his way ahead of Nikora during that time.

Thanks Burgo. Given all that, I'd say our depth is pretty good. Do you agree?

I think so. When you look at the “next guy in” across the board I think we are decent.

Fullback - Metcalf
2-5 - Ikuvalu, Hiroti
Halves - Metcalf, Trindall
Middle - Tolman, Hunt, Fifita, Pele, Hazelton, Colquhoun
Back row - Wilton, Talakai, Rennie
Hooker - Berrell

A lot of those players are not necessarily NRL starting-13 level players, but most are above average as depth players. I think by adding those 3 big signings it pushes everyone else on the roster down in to a more appropriate role.

The only real issue is that if we get a lot of injuries in one particular position, there is a big gap between the guys above and the next batch (Miller, Lualua, Martin, Rivett, Iro, Jensen, Woolford/Longmuir etc.).

E.g.

- Injuries to Kennedy + Metcalf = Tracey or Miller at FB
- injuries to Brailey + McInnes = Berrell/Trindall/Tracey sharing 9
- injuries Moylan + Hynes = Metcalf/Trindall/Tracey sharing halves
- injuries to Graham and Nikora = Wilton and Talakai each playing 80 minutes

Would be nice to see Ferris back playing too.

I’d say we need to reserve judgement to see how rd 1 goes before calling our depth pretty good, given we are pretty much using it all in this game.

So much so that we are even using our “coaching depth” for this one!
Mind you, Price does seem to be good depth.

Only thing for me is i'd try and find BHU a starting spot, which I guess would be at Toby's expense

Stats prove nothing

But also I am interested to see

(include tries scored starting vs bench because I know BHU had a good streak here for a bit)

im pretty sure his early game try's were coinciding with him starting

i've already said my piece about Rudolf coming from the bench which is what I want - I have my reasons. someone has to start in his place for that to happen and BHU has shown he can be effective as a starter or a bench option so I don't think we lose much from him either way
