My son and I had a bit of fun last night, we sat down and did a mock podcast previewing this weekend's games. He's got the technological know how on how to record it and we took about 25 minutes to go through all the games and analyse them and make our predictions. It was heaps of fun and he really enjoyed it.

We'll probably do it again for Finals Week 1.

I'd post it here but I have no idea how to do that and I doubt anyone would want to listen to an old man like me ramble on about footy with his 12 year old son.
25 minutes? You've already nailed the length! That's a great little project to do with the boy, nice one mate. I'll definintely give you guys a listen if you feel like sharing it.

Just make sure you don't interview Chad Townsend or Wade Graham. You will have to go into protective custody!

Thanks mate. I'll check tonight to see if it is possible. But we are a long way behind Sam and Josh, or Snowy and Dan. Can't hold a candle to those guys just yet.

The young fellow loves texting Mark Levy on the 2GB sports show on Monday nights when we're on the way to our Table Tennis comp.
Haha...was he the one that asked him on Monday night how the Sharks were going to go in the finals, or something like that?

Expecting the next episode to be with Fitz. He's got to use those connections
I heard you can book Bill Clinton for a one on one for about 60k.

Only condition is that you must wear a blue dress.

Spanian had Mundine on his podcast. Is a good hour listen. Sure was nice listening to Choc and his reasoning behind everything and him not speaking for sound bites.

No interest which probably makes me racist.

No interest in what Choc has to say. We all knew what his schtick was, it wasn't anything special. Funny how as time passes people 'reveal' their reasoning behind everything and their **** behaviour seems more justified.

Has anyone listened to Head Noise with James Graham about HIA and CTE

I have a little and will be interesting how this game fairs in 20 years if kids aren’t playing.

I’ve been listening. Only a few episodes in.

It’s a real concern. I’ve gone in to it a fair bit in some other threads. It’s going to take a long time to change attitudes. Most people involved in junior footy just say that head knocks are part of the game. While some injuries are unavoidable, I don’t think that currently there is enough being done in junior footy to protect players’ heads. There is no silver bullets though. The fix is to have competent refs, and lots more of them - which will take time.

The right structure is in place from the NRL. It’s the application of it that is lacking atm. For example, all teams should have a qualified first aid officer. If a kid gets a head knock, they assess, then make a call whether the kid goes back on. This is how it works in my team/club. When my son plays school footy though, none of this exists. Last game of the year a kid gets a head knock, comes off dazed and bleeding from the mouth - and the coach walks over to his mum and says “he’s fine. Are you right if I put him back on? We need him out there”. To her credit, mum says “**** no. It’s a dead rubber school footy game. I’m taking him to hospital”. This is his school footy works outside of the top end schools. It’s a disgrace.

All my junior footy was with my school teams - no bone sticking out, you're ok, stop sooking. Although one of us did telescope his leg at one game...
