Wow , a bit surprising .
Still feels if we can hold the ball , and not be under the pump , that in theory the missed tackles should go down . ( graph does say no )
Then again , if you defend your line set after set after set , it means you are defending well and not missing tackles or there'd be tries ..
Perhaps It would then be the open field where you might then feel the pinch and then start to miss tackles .

This is the more telling graph.

When you make more tackles, the fatigue doesn't make you worse at defence. It makes you worse at ATTACK.

Teams defend just as well when they are tired, but they struggle to make yards, get pinned in their own end, and the opposition gets more cracks at their line. This is only for middles, but I my guess would be that if I finished this and then added edges and outside backs to this, the trend would continue. That would be in line with the stuff the EyeTest guy did league-wide last year.

140m difference. That's like having an extra Royce Hunt on your bench.

Note that this graph doesn't reflect "teams with more ball make more metres". It shows that even adjusted for possession rate, the individual attacking output for middle forwards goes down when they have to do a lot of defence.

It will be VERY interesting to see our missed tackle stats when we get games with more than 50% possession .
Well done lads - thanks
I look forward to that day!

I'm predicting next year we'll be using this thread for our title defence.

In Fitz we trust!
Or for when our Legals address the magistrate following a bizarre off field incident involving a Sea Bass….

One of my favourite things about the win is that Dragons actually played reasonably well and still got thrashed.
A fraction less effort by us and they pick up a couple tries, maybe we score a couple less and we could be staring down another game that went to the wire.
Might seems like a stretch to talk about a four try shift in scoreline but there were enough tries stopped or only just scored with mm in them

Must be some off-field drama we aren’t aware of for them to put in such poor performances

Came to this thread late, but one thing I think is different this year is the emphasis every player is putting on line integrity. It's been interesting to watch our defence move up, shuffle back and around based less on the attack and more on where our defensive line is, making sure they're not the cause of a hole. You actually see them looking around as they consider moving up on a crabbing attacker, and it's now rare that attackers have anywhere to go.
