Kaufusi definitely improved this week. His first hit-up was an indication the coach maybe had a quiet word .

several runs later he was pedestrian in a few, and slows right at the line
one hit up at a time I guess
He's stock standard but has a quick play-the-ball. Nothing flashy about him. His line speed was sort of **** though this week.
second this!
his size is great, would like him faster with that line speed

Yeah thought there was period where he was slow and not as impactful. Same with Hunt, but I guess it's his first game back from injury.

he is warming into it and looking more urgent with his runs, like a less rollie pollie Junior Paulo and with more of a Royce Hunt kinda build - a steam lined fridge if you will that you can put to work

I like him - understated but with various qualities. Good solid benchy, teams need players like him but I think there is more upside to him and we havn't seen it all from him yet and he is a player I am happy to see more of. Pretty good way to swap out Tolman IMO

He was much better today and I think will improve a lot as the year goes on.

Not sure if you could see on TV but he moved the advertising boards to come off the back fence off kick offs

His beat game so far.
Started to utilise his size with his quicker play the balls a big bonus

Does he need to do 11 day stand down?
Said he passed HIA but club chose not to send him back on. Does that count as failing?

Automatic 11 day is for category 1 concussion.
Category 1 symptoms include a player losing consciousness, showing balance disturbance, suffering impact seizures or taking no protective actions when falling.

You can have a category 2 concussion and return in less than 11 days if you pass the criteria.
Category 2 signs include lying motionless, possible impact seizure/tonic posturing/balance disturbance, slow to stand & suspected facial fracture.

For all other concussions (no category 1 or 2 signs) normal 6 day RTP applies.

Depending on whether Kaufusi had any cat 2 signs, he should be OK to return. He will just need to do the normal 6 day RTP and meet the criteria.

You would assume he is fine to play next Dame given he was allowed to return. I would however be tempted to rest him given we have sufficient depth.

I am curious about this too.
They also said he 'experienced concussion symptoms at halftime' but then passed an HIA... and then they chose not to play him anyway.
Not sure if we will see him next week or not. Could be a good chance to give big Tommy a run - scored two for Jets on the weekend (although I don't otherwise know how well he has been playing)

Should be named today to play this weekend
NRL.com has him out. Could just be journos assuming "failed HIA = out" though.

Interchange forward Oregon Kaufusi (failed HIA) was ruled out inside the opening 15 minutes last week and is set to be ruled out. Braydon Trindall could return from an ankle injury and come into consideration for a bench spot.
