Obscure and Rare Sharks Photos

Hard to believe you'd ever let him go if you saw that second try. But I think it was his behaviour.

We had Holmes in our youth system as well and even back then he looked the more promising and consistent player compared to JAC in my personal opinion (and perhaps the clubs too)

I used to watch a reasonable amount of SG Ball/NYC back then - JAC wasn't always full of highlights and games where he carved up like you might think he would but for sure he was an interesting prospect and electric when things clicked.

JAC did always have that raw pace although Holmes was no slouch either obviously.

Both went on to have big successful careers but considering what Holmes did for us in his Sharks FG career here it's hard to say we didn't make the right choice and he didn't cause us much trouble off field outside of contract dramas.

Maybe in an alternative universe we would have had a wing pairing of Holmes & JAC but Feki ended up doing pretty well for us - not one of the great finishers but he was strong, didn't cost much and his hit ups on kick return sets were vital and Flanno built a game plan around the work of our back 3 coming out of our end.

A strategy that pretty much every team employs now

Slightly different stages of their career but JAC reminded me a bit of Merritt.
Blazing speed he could use to beat anyone but just as likely to be jogging as actually putting the effort in unless the line was wide open. Didn't really seem to want to be here (Merritt was more wanted to go back to bunnies from memory, JAC was just thought to be a general attitude issue that it took even another move to shake off)

I saw plenty of JAC in our lower grades and while he certainly had raw pace, he was so skinny and many times got the rag doll treatment when tackled. Obviously he was much younger then and hadn't bulked up to what he was like at the Storm. Even when he went to the Tigers he seemed to have a bit more size to him.
