Definite obstruction

Thought the ref was shocking though

That high shot he called on Kennedy was ****ing dreadful.

Also, Cooper steals the ball off Williams, Williams smashed him, ball comes out - penalty - how?

thats what I thought at the time, but on the screen it said penalty for dangerous tackle

What do we think Maguire was doing to Katoas legs at the end of the first half? Katoa fired up, must have been a ugly hold and twist. That guy is a grub.

And regarding the strip against Mulitalo, that is currently the worst rule in the game because of the interpretation. Mulitalo was fending a player on his left when the ball was stripped, so it isn’t one in one. That player wasn’t “tackling him”, but Mulitalo is still having to defend against him. It’s either one on one or it isn’t. It has to be clear as day, because the point of the strip rule is too allow offloads and flowing footy. So the one on one strip rule has to be clear, otherwise it’s just a loophole in the strip rule.

Good game. We’ve got a ways to go but we were clearly the better side.

Dunno but Katoa really reacted to it didn't he - couldn't see much in the replay but Moose has a reputation that suggests it was no accident.

I think that strip was just okay on replay but ref did very well to call it live because I thought for sure there was still contact between more than one defender.
There was one the week before and the second defender was no longer in the act of tackling but was basically laying against our players legs and I think any contact must count against the defenders.
If you can't get completely clear you are part of the tackle and risk a stripping penalty if your teammates does rip out the ball, and that includes if the attacking player is fending you or grabbing you.

Am I right that all 26 points scored were on the right edge and all 16 conceded on the left?

That was an interesting game tonight, we had top defence in patches then all of a sudden terrible defence during the next phase

An unfortunate and frustrating element of the John Morris era of coaching. Energy, commitment and intent in defense.... for about 10 mins .... and then it is gone then kinda comes back again then is gone again... does my head in. our structures just arn't working here. sometimes out attitude is there as well then we are lazy again, it's bizarre. our style isn't even defined or consistent week to week.

its like the old Flanno Sharks DNA fighting off the mutation into the JMO hybrid strain DNA

SJ in the 7, worries the opposition more than chad there. IMHO,

Agree but SJ didn't change much himself, was more a case of Moylan doing alot of the 7's work

Not so much the player but the amount of cap sitting on the sidelines he represents
if he kept the cap shut he would still be playing ;)

Fox said game suspended and played Tuesday
we don't play well on Tuesdays - bullet dodged

One more thing - we need to be smarter with our captains challenge

That was a dreadful decision by Wade.

Yep need to learn to save it for a key moment in the game or even if your team is desperate for a breather. not burn it in the first half on some nothing 50/50's.
Maybe he is scared of going the whole game without using it as it's not like they go in the bank for the next week haha

Also got to stop giving away penalties to opposition trying to come out of their end on the 4th and 5th tackle of the set
2nd/3rd tackle as well - drives me nuts we still get our aggression and timings wrong. it's remarkable how many times we get scored on after giving away a pointless penalty where we previously had some momentum and had the opposition down their own end. yet it festers on year after year with these blokes. Cut that rubbish out and we instantly improve our chances of success and take some pressure off our at times shakey defense.

Listening to Blayke on the radio, the 6 players stuck their heads in a fridge before being re-tested haha.
they were just checking on Bronson's B Sample

I though Drinkwater committed himself to make some contact which takes away some of our players opportunity to go through without affecting the line (because the line affected him). The action Drinkwater took was the main cause of contact so he obstructed himself. Would have liked to see that one remain as a try.

The head on replay view clearly shows Drinkwater make a decision and tackle but Nikora prob still needed to run more to the left of the play to avoid getting in the way

I think I missed that, was watching at pub. but anyone who lays a hand on Sione Katoa is scum and forever on my **** list
