Watch the space cadet Blues coach give Nicho some bs role from the bench where he will be forced to come on and overplay his hand when the game is gone rather than settle into a game and scheme away over the 80 mins with plenty of touches and kicks like he does in club land

The Penrith boys had their chance last year and screwed it up. Nicho & Cleary are good enough players to form a workable combination in a few weeks of Origin camp

I actually hope nsw lose this year so Fittler gets the flick. He’s obsessed with certain players. In what world is Campbell Graham not playing, or Debellin, or Hynes starting. Are Martin and Turbo fit enough? Edwards should play over Teddy who is just not the player he was.

Yep, a lot of decisions could blow up on him
Hynes 14
Api not Cook
JAC not Graham
Turbo not Graham
TPJ

All of those are not just ‘oh they didn’t go well’ but will have criticism for selection

Even Teddy over Edwards

Teddy JAC & Turbo played good games just in time

Eh?

Yes, and to my point - please explain how Burton would make more sense over Nicho considering centre is the only position he’d cover better than Nicho.
I’m 50/50 if I think Burton would be better
Extra kilos would be useful if thrown in the middle, more used to playing centre (even at SoO) which he can even if Latrell had to go to FB, has experience in halves with Panthers spine players

But then Nicho is Nicho

Im happy with him playing 14 in origin for a few reasons…

A. Valuable origin experience, he has earned it
B. Less minutes played means will most likely back up after each game
C. Not being the starting half or 5/8, if NSW fail this year he wont be the headline like the penrith pair will be

Tedesco was always getting picked. He’s the captain and still unbelievably talented and reliable, just been playing in a **** team.

Of all Freddy’s piss poor selections over the years, mainly picking players out of position, Ado-Carr over Graham is not one of them.

Yes he was
And if he struggles Freddy would get dragged by media and fans for it

I think TPJ is really the only cooked decision, the others i'm ok with.

Well Hynes should be 6 too but can see why they went Luai

Well you guys have more faith in the NRL media personalities and Twitter than I do - I reckon if NSW lose they grab any 'should have picked this guy instead' story they can and run with it.

I guess I don't care if I am wrong and something happens like Teddy is ineffective and I don't have to hear about why Edwards was the inform player
Would rather everyone he has picked kills it though so we don't have to find out

All mute now mate. My point though was that a utility 14 covers a few positions. Nicho would really only can / need to cover the halves with all the fullbacks in the team. Burton is big enough to play a bit of lock/2nd row in an emergency too. I couldn't see Nicho doing that (and he bloody better not!)

That was my point though - you’re not picking the utility to cover back row, there’s another 3 forwards on the bench for that.

If you’re using the media as the benchmark you’ve already lost the battle.

By the same logic if Graham was picked and he stunk it up they’d blow up about not picking Fox. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. He’s one of the best wingers in the comp and always played well for the Blues, it’s an easy selection

Maybe it all comes from not being sure that Nicho is going to look good enough from the 14. He's limited in the role he could play and he's not a hard nose defender... Wighton, even Burton, have those qualities. Hopefully Nicho proves me wrong of course.
