The truth is if all goes to plan the fourth spot won't get much game time (none all season at Eels apparently).
So you pick to either provide an extra forward in case you have an issue there or an extra back/spine in case you have an issue there.
You could skew towards a forward who may have more use when game goes to plan, or back your other forwards in and skew towards cover.
Graham's best value to our team is he can play edge or middle but also 6, so when available he could be quite a good fit.

Then you hope you don't have any issues, or if you do that they match up with your best guess in the 17 jersey.

It probably makes sense to have a forward and a back between your 17 and 18 jersey, not two the same.
Yeah I’ve noticed some teams aren’t even using their whole bench. In previous times we have done the same or only minimal minutes to some of our bench forwards.

I’m happy to run Trindall on our bench till Graham is back. He either plays no minutes, 10 minutes at lock, or he saves us in the halves.

Once Graham is back then Trindall to NSW cup to play 80 minutes at half would be preferred for everyone I think.

Does anyone see an issue with having a 6 man bench but teams are only allowed to sub in 4 of the 6 unless there is foul play or 2x HIA.
This way you can carry a back and a half and while they most likely won't get play time, you can choose to sub one of those in if you get an injury in those positions and lose one of your forward rotations.

Firstly, I'm not sure if I love or hate your display pic

I could see adding a 19th man. 2x HIA activates extra man but you can choose between your 18th/19th.
Maybe then allow an additional HIA to activate the other, maybe not. But the choice between the two means you can have a forward, an outside back and a spine player between your 17/18/19 and can select the most appropriate cover from your 18/19 in reaction to 2 HIAs

I don't think they need to be formally added to the bench but not treated as regular bench players when 18th man is already a solution to that, which creates a more clear distinction between bench and HIA cover.

I wouldn't mind a 19th man that only activates if a chicken runs on the field.

Or a 6 man bench with 4 rotating subs and 2 permanent subs

Wow.

Tonight’s game is evident of how **** we are without this guy.

Never would have I thought that a Melbourne Storm player outside of Cronk, Smith, Slater can make this much if a difference to a team.

Yes the Dragons are ****.
But man.

This guy…

I can understand a Trindall vs Moylan convo but this is why Hynes stays 7. He’s everything for us

Yeah I initially wanted him in the 6 jumper, but he’s made that 7 jumper his for as long as we wants it.

In saying that, he’d probably have the same sort of impact with either number on his back.

Im really hanging out for a Trindall/Hynes combination, im not trying to hang **** on Moylan, but I would like to see how it would look.
