Would be stupid if we did it, which we won't.
I remember the short-lived outrage when Covell purposely missed a kick from bang in front against the Warriors.

Ha yeah me too, Sticky was coaching.I remember the short-lived outrage when Covell purposely missed a kick from bang in front against the Warriors.

Controversial take, but I think he plays better this year than when he won the DallyM (never quite understood how he won that).
I think both are equally impressive. He was the guy during 2022 and had to make all the plays, which he did consistently. Didn't help us against the tougher teams, though, or when it mattered.Nah he was on fire in his Dally M season - our back line was humming and he was a big part of that (and Moylan)
However I would say he is a more balanced and well rounded player now even if he has lost a little pace and distance on his kicks
His defense against Souths was really strong (made some important tackles) and his running game continues to feature and I don't need to elaborate on his goal kicking
This is kicking, or more specifically "last plays".I think both are equally impressive. He was the guy during 2022 and had to make all the plays, which he did consistently. Didn't help us against the tougher teams, though, or when it mattered.
Now he's playing brilliantly as part of a team going well. The whole spine is playing well as a unit, and he's a key cog in that, but not everything has to go through him. His touches per game from that year are down around 20-30%.
It would be funny, but the pundits would immediately demand an asterisk is placed next to the record.
"How dare the Sharks disrespect the game?"; "Relocate them!"; "El Mazri is the rightful record holder!"
Fox would spin this ad nauseam into something bigger than the Storm's cap breaches or our own peptide stupidity.
All makes sense and supports what I said. It's not everything has to go through Nicho anymore, and I think the team is better for it and less predictable. This is kicking, or more specifically "last plays".
Tackles 0-4 Nicho's touches are the same with Tricky as as with Moylan.
Tricky and Moylan have had a similar amount of involvement on non last-plays, but in different ways:
- Tricky has more kicks and more touches running on the last.
- Tricky has more touches in good ball; Moylan had more outside good ball
- Moylan had more touches where he passed to Nicho. Tricky more touches where he passes to someone else.
- Tricky receives the ball more often from Nicho.
- Nicho passed the ball to Kennedy more often when paired with Moylan.
Running on the last is also up in general compared to 2022 with the rule change on contested dropouts.
All of the above is demonstrable fact. Not just my opinion. Dummy half passes on yardage don't count.
I can understand why Nicho won the Dally M in 2022. Players who do "more stuff" get remembered.
I also think the 2022 finals campaign gets unfairly remembered. Didn't get the job done but they weren't healthy. Were missing a few and had several others playing on one leg. Kennedy in particular was known to be really struggling, but there were a few others.
Agreed, he was probably our best. It still wasn't enough unfortunately. We're a better defensive side now too so hopefully that will carry us well this year.nicho hynes played fantastically in that week 1 semi in 2022
Yeah for sure. Having quality options on last play and in good ball attack is an improvement. All makes sense and supports what I said. It's not everything has to go through Nicho anymore, and I think the team is better for it and less predictable.

Or just let him get it legitimately. Or not – makes no difference either way. Paying the record any sort of attention would be throwing a spanner in our own works. The Football Gods exist and they would not be happy with that. The more I think about it the more I want them to game this record and give Trindall the hard kicks haha
That chip was salty before, but he seems way more focused on getting a burger ring these daysNicho has really stepped up his on-field leadership. He’s not afraid of some push and shove. He is playing with a bit of a chip on his shoulder as well.
We get those 2 tripping touchies who incorrectly called a kick last week as going under the crossbar and they don’t review it because Cronulla.Simple plan here - score all tries this week underneath the posts.
Problem solved
Just decline to take conversions. Straight back for another kick off and more time to score tries.
That used to be the way. A try is called a try because it used to be worth nothing apart from giving you the opportunity to “try” kick a goal. It's against the spirit of the game. Don't we score tries just for the right to kick a goal?

I can't remember, I was only a toddlerI know
Wasn't it dropped altogether by 1908?
