Official Nicho Hynes

I hope he breaks the record but also. I dont think it really matters, its not some sort of record thats ever brought up anyway. Great if he does but i think he and everyone else just want to see wins.
Awesome effort to get this close, including a win where goals were the difference, and plenty of tough ones through the run.

He should take a lot of confidence from this, regardless of when it ends.

It's a pretty almighty record, Hazem was a hell of a sharp shooter, but you're right - it'd be cool but it's not exactly storm the field stuff

Correct me if I'm mistaken but..
Didn't Luke Covell do something similar, after his streak he couldn't even kick them from infront. That's how the spirit fingers or magic fingers came into existence

That seems easy enough

3/4 the week the streak ended
Went 1/2 the next week and we lost by 2
3/3
4/5
0/1
4/5

so 15/20 which no doubt he would have been a little disappointed in.
Likely even more upset at the results. 10 straight losses through the back end of the streak and to finish the season (only 1 decided by a missed goal). Raper sacked for Stuart.

Now I wish I didn't look it up :ROFLMAO:

Re spirit fingers, on his last kick yesterday I started doing spirit fingers at the tele from my lounge for the first time ever.

Just before he kicked it, I stopped because I didn't want to jinx him!

The only way Nicho can survive the constant media onslaught is to go out there and win a gf.

If he does that, they can't touch him. Someone needs to let him know this lol

Appreciate the info & stand corrected
How about the 'spirit fingers' is that tied to Covell or does it pre date him?

My understanding is that for the Sharks it originated with Covell.

The origin of spirit fingers themselves is just as mysterious as their powers.

Hynes and coach Craig Fitzgibbon are putting far more stock in the little things – “like my defence, effort areas and saving tries” – than pointscoring plays, with both coach and player rating his current form better than in his award-winning 2022 season.

“I know I’m probably playing better than the Dally M year, but people only looked at me back then for the try assists and the highlight reels and whatnot,” Hynes said after another starring role in Sunday’s 32-16 win over South Sydney.

“[In] 2022, I had a lot of highlight reels. I’d come to the club and had some big moments and everyone just looked at me as if I needed to set up three tries or score a couple or do these things to play the Dally M style of footy I was playing.

“I’ve grown, and I’m more than a highlight reel [player]. All I want to do is do the hard things – make my tackles, run the ball, kick when I have to and just build my game off that by staying patient. Maybe I didn’t have that sort of mindset back in 2022, but I do now.

“And I can trust and believe in Tricky [Trindall] that he’s going to get us around the park just as well as I can, and even better sometimes. So I just play off the back of that and play my natural game”.

Trindall’s emergence as a top-shelf playmaker has freed up Hynes, who averages 45 touches of the ball this season compared to 61.7 when he was Cronulla’s dominant half in 2022.
Hynes has worked with legendary Kiwi winger Daryl Halligan on both his technique off the tee and mental approach to goalkicking, with the latter flowing into his overall game.

“It gives me a world of confidence and I love working with Chook [Halligan],” he said. “It’s just about sticking to the same [kicking] routine, trusting it, getting good contact on the ball and watching it go over. I reckon there’s been times where I’ve missed a couple of easy ones, and it gets in your head a bit.

“But you’ve just got to trust your routines and back yourself. I’ve worked really hard on my mindset in all aspects of rugby league and life and that does give me confidence.”

The more I think about it the more I want them to game this record and give Trindall the hard kicks haha

It would be funny, but the pundits would immediately demand an asterisk is placed next to the record.
"How dare the Sharks disrespect the game?"; "Relocate them!"; "El Mazri is the rightful record holder!"
Fox would spin this ad nauseam into something bigger than the Storm's cap breaches or our own peptide stupidity.

Would be stupid if we did it, which we won't.
