Official Nicho Hynes

What about when Ennis described Trindalls form as “sublime” when Nicho was injured.

I can’t believe this prick with his long girly hair has ruined our season.

or the fact trindall didnt play alot of the games in the so called streak the burgo proved is false

Trindall did play pretty well against an understrength Manly
Per our voting was our 10th best player against Dragons - hardly awe-inspiring reviews
And against understrength Warriors he was pretty poor for most of the game, but kicked a cracking field goal (and I say that having given him points that game)

TBH, it was a pretty easy run of games to be missing two key players and still be a good chance for wins.

So all in all, no, he did not have sublime form or anything close to that while Nicho was out (imo).
He played okay, overall.

Where was he when an actual full strength decent team was in front of us? He had a comparable amount of touches to the Manly & Dragons games, with the Manly one being arguably his best performance in the run, roles a bit different of course.

There is also the theory puma came up with that he is a motivation issue but obviously that is a reflection of him, not anybody else, so that makes him the problem not Nicho.

I thought Tricky's kicking game was way off the other night (especially the first half). So much so, they started getting Nicho to kick (which didnt improve our situation).

I wonder if they addressed it at half time because I thought Tricky kicked a lot more and was more effective.

I thought both halves went OK when we had good ball. Both set up trys, we just didnt give ourselves enough opportunities.

Without re watching the game, would have been nich if Nicho and / or someone else backed up Wiltons line break

Agree, they were applying good pressure on him. If only we would attempt to do the same, our kick pressure sucks.

I choose to subscribe to the 'I'm an idiot who barely knows anything about the game' theory.

In my theory, you won't be surprised to learn that I'm an idiot who barely knows anything about the game. What this allows me to do is maintain a level of comfort in the fact that the coaching staff is probably seeing some things I'm not. So when I see JC/Toby look great without AFB, or Tricky have a good game without Nicho, etc., I assume that it could be just because in that game I noticed them doing more stuff. The reason they are doing more stuff is that there are fewer other key players to do said stuff. When AFB/Nicho return, the amount of stuff to do gets shared, and I notice each respective player doing less stuff overall. Some people seem to think that means they are having a worse game, but I think that's because they haven't yet realised they are also idiots who barely know anything about the game.

The more I dive into this theory, the more I'm starting to realise that in a game of football, there's a finite amount of stuff that needs to get done. I don't believe the coach overly cares who does the stuff, so long as it is done in accordance with the plan and done well. The stuff varies from game to game, and there's definitely forward stuff, spine stuff, and outside back stuff, but there's a lot less centre/second rower/halfback/prop stuff than I think most of us realise (not none, just less), and most stats are very unlikely to be used to compare players within similar positions.

Yeah I was interested in some of Nicho's biggest fans (cough) feeling the need to keep commenting on his kicks when actual decent long kickers Trindall was putting up what he was.

I also thought we played fine in limited good ball, and wouldn't especially blame either half for a loss.

Nicho put Wilton through right at the line so wouldn't have got through cleanly I wouldn't have thought, but yeah, someone pushing up a bit faster would have been good. It is hard if you aren't a side that has one the elite speedsters to have someone come into position to backup if not already in the play.
Wilton being high shot then stripped after he was tackled to breakdown play on our break I'd have thought would have been very close to a bin...

There is a lot to this theory! I've always been one of the first who will say the coach would know better than me. Although Snowy did counter argue that he has been knowing what we should be doing far longer than any of our coaches were at the club...

It is definitely interesting that every sports team in the world has fans who are certain they know more than the coach, however none of them ever succeed (or even try to) as coaches themselves... presumably they just don't want to?

I'd be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for the team and be this guy.
You're not Nicho so which guy are you in this scenario? The guy paying 500k to Nicho while he plays for another club?

Great post mate and 100% agree with every word.

Mind you, I only read the first sentence!

Haha no I'm "a guy". It wasn't specified it had to be Nicho. Just that paying someone to not play for the Sharks was the secret sauce.

Of course it's not to say coaches aren't fallible. But if you think the solution is so obvious that it's crazy the coach can't see it you're probably the one that's wrong.

Still can't believe Burgoshark and SF launched a coup against Snowman to kick him off his forum...

Agree on this, mentioned it in different threads or posts, obviously not a big KPI of Fitz
I'd like to see a bit more, but it is so overprotected these days, it's not the worst to just not even really bother. Just need to do enough they don't get an extra 10m run up for the kick. Walker def had one or two times he was able to do that.

The main tactical element of kick pressure these days seems to be grab and hold the kicker so your fullback has one less person pressuring them / more space to run around in

I've got a sneaking suspicion I know who the first and only team will be to get penalised for this too

I sort of agree, TBH, I don’t give a damn if they don’t actually lay a hand on him (the kicker) it’s more to show intent, like bluff them, sort of saying to them I’m coming for ya & I’m gunna hit you.

For me, it takes away the kickers comfortability & either makes him rush it that smidgeon more or prevents him from putting the kick on a dime or flushing it which is better for us & our our catcher.
At times or even more often than not, we just amble up to them likes it’s almost a token kick pressure stat they are ticking off.
