Official Nicho Hynes

man he's really fallen off in terms of fan support hey
There’s always been a half whipping boy

And despite that we’ve been one of the best competing teams over an extended period

Some people just need someone to hate
Didn’t like Nicho when he put the team on his back, don’t like him now he’s sharing with dear precious Trindall. Probably still sook about him if he was in an premiership winning team like they do Chad.

Imagine thinking to yourself this is the reason people talk about a players performance 🤦🏻‍♂️

If you paid for a Ferrari and got a honda jazz, would you not complain too?

In all fairness to Nicho, hope he returns to form because the entire teams success depends on it.

The article, his thoughts? If so, I agree, it’s hard not to.

We have the squad to do it, that much I’m confident of, just frustrating that we don’t play smart when the opportunity to win big games when we have them, here’s hoping, 2025 onwards will be our time

Yeah aside from the headline, the actual comments from Slater are very reasonable.

"Everyone else has got to really lift and take the team to that next level, a bit like Nathan Cleary did yesterday, like Isaah Yeo did... that energy for long periods of time, and the class on the top of it to execute some plays."

yep it’s players like Ramien, Ronaldo, Brailey, Hynes, Nikora, McInnes that need to be there when big games are on the line ; they don’t rise or if they do it’s just one of them two at best

The comment below the article is much more common nowadays too

Yeh, with the long periods, we missed a beat yesterday.
When it was 4-0 in our favour we probably should have been another try up.

Panthers went bang, bang on us, we are gone from being 4-0 to 4-12 down pretty quickly.
Later in the game, we score, I’m guessing amongst the group there's some positivity, they kick off & Nicho spills it, whilst we were lucky to get the ball back it’s sort of deflating,

It would’ve been nice to let Penrith know we were coming to get them, make them nervous, instead, Penrith would’ve regained some composure from the error & thought nah, it’s all good, we got this.

Looking for positives, we didn’t throw the towel in & actually come back to potentially snatch it but again, the long periods, we don’t seem to be able to go toe to toe & we blink first.

Not sure Nicho's drop had much of an impact on the game.

Unlike Brailey's kick out on the full (allowed Penrith to go bang, bang) or Hazelton giving away a penalty (Penrith scored next set), or Ronnie's penalty (Penrith scored next set), or errors like Kaufusi or Nikora dropping the ball in the attacking 20 (meaning we didn't go another try up at 4-0) or BHU or McInnes or Talakai dropping the ball in the attacking 20 while we were chasing the game.

Not to mention the Trindall show and go with blokes on his outside (Penrith go up the other end and score) or the Ramien go with Stonestreet on his outside.

12 months ago, we would have been behind 24-10 and probably had 40 put on us. Instead we're sitting here bemoaning said errors/missed opportunities as costing us the game after coming back from 14 points down and almost winning the game.

I agree, it didn’t, luckily Trindall executed a damn good drop out to allow Ronnie to do his thing. As we got the ball back it’s turned out ok, BUT, imagine if Nicho takes a simple kick off, we play a smart set & kick down field to Panthers & say to them, over to you.
We, as a team, make far too many errors, way too much, all well & good for Fitz to say in the pressers it was a cracking game, happy with the effort & we learnt a lesson today but surely boys, c’mon, gives yourselves a chance & learn from it, next big game, let’s be smart.

For sharks fans, most of us are unreasonable knobs when it comes to expectations.

For the general public, theyre either listening to Fox who are paid to criticise him or they go off Supercoach points only as a guage of how well someone played

You couldn’t be further from the truth

An outsider watching our games would mistaken Hynes for a player on a mid contract

I haven't been around here much lately.... But are we still doing this to death? **** me.

I'm glad forums didn't exist when Stuart and Daley were the halves for Canberra. Would have been back and forward nonsense about who is the dominant half, on more money or injured, rather than just being able to watch two top players form a killer combo.

This period where Nicho hasn't been at his best includes:

- 1 game v Penrith when he got injured
-3 games post origin where he was fairly poor
- 4 games returning from his ankle injury where he clearly looked off the pace physically
- 1 game this year where he was decent, just not the star

I can't believe the narratives on the back of that calling for him to be benched/moved to fullback etc etc.

I'm personally not going to worry unless he's still looking flat in 8-10 rounds time. I'm backing him for a big year.

100% agree. I also feel him and Trindall have a real opportunity to develop a unique style of halves pairings when they just chop and change as required. They just need some more time together.

Yeah, they've only played 20 games together. And we've seen in that sample size some great things already. They've also played two very different styles across that time. We've also seen them begin to adapt to play to each other's strengths in more recent games, and I think that will continue to grow.
