Official Newtown Jets + Sharks Pathways 2026

Yeah always good to keep perspective with junior reps. The players who make NRL are the exception. All generally remain great local players though, and run rings around everyone else whether in league/oztag/touch.

Like these were our 2016 squads - the SG Ball Squad probably more success than most years (we finished 7th).

2016 Cronulla Sharks Matthews Cup squad
Max Batty, Kai Broadhurst, Declan Casey, Bailey Cantrill, Thomas De Meio, Cooper Devine, Jackson Devine, Angus Ernst, Joshua Holt, Kevin Kennedy, Logan Kepu, Isaac Longmuir, Jonaiah Lualua, Adam Mortlock, Cameron O’Connor, Franco Parodiso, Franklin Pele, Riley Pickering, Dan Robinson, Saint Sakai, Damon Smith, Ky Smith, George Sukanaivalu, William Swann, Redford Tiatia, Andrew Thomson, Jack Wilson, Max Wiseman, Bronson Xerri.

2016 Cronulla Sharks SG Ball squad

Josh Aileone, Blayke Brailey, Donavan Briggs, Delaney Chaney-Puata, Jack Dillon, Jackson Ferris, Brandon Finnegan, Kyle Flanagan, Jack Gould, Luke Jurd, Semisi Kioa, Luke Kisaloff, Fine Kula, Amo Lualua, Isaac Lumelume, Luke Metcalf, Kalani Pewhairangi-Charlie, James Roumanos, Jaeman Salmon, Dylan Smith, Lachlan Smith, Dean Tatsis, Soakimi Tuitavuki, Chris Tupou, Jackson Watson, Dylan Xerri.

I would say the club is more keen on announcing who is here rather than where others have gone. Certainly at this level at least.
I mean we won't see a list of who is in the U16 and U18 development squads - so anyone from Harold Matthews who wasn't named in SG Ball could actually still be part of the system.

If Pele and Lumelume get to be bold so should Declan Casey and James Roumanos :)

Cup is the gauge.

2019 SG Ball had quite a few who went on to either debut or at least be a regular Cup player: Colquhoun, Dykes, Stonestreet, Samrani, Kautoga, Rodwell, Hosking, Pickering.

The irony of that 2019 team is that if you asked someone back then they probably would have told you the 3 best players were Finau, Burke and Giles.

Alex Isdale has gone back to the Tigers.
Elijah Thaiday-Shin went to Souths
Bulldogs announced their squad earlier today. Garner wasn't listed.

Team lists for the Qld comps come out a bit later. Will check those for player movements too.

Yeah. 1 game last year and now back to the Tigers. He wasn't going to win a spot over Grantham or Challenor and from what I've seen Feki is ahead of him at this stage (plus Swann is a decent #6 too). Can't blame him for going somewhere where he can get a game.

I’ve seen a fair bit of him and come up against him. He’s been a starting 6 is group 6 first grade and killing it. On the smaller side compared to the two we’ve listed but every bit as talented. Good luck to him

Below is a list of players Flegg players who various sources have listed as being under contract or part of the squad. Pollard, Gabrael and Cacciotti are also still eligible.

Alex Challenor
Nikora Williams
Prestyn Laine-Sietu
Jai Davies
Lachlan Araullo
Ashton Simmonds
Richard Whalebone
Yuri Hronow
Bailey Leach
Blake Wardrobe
Cooper Hannay
Adrian Sandy
Marc Tannous
Daniel Louka
Waka Tate
Elijah Paea

The following players are either from last year's squad and are all still eligible, or are aging up from SG Ball - but I haven't seen anything confirming either way. I assume most are at least part of the training squad.

Pharrel Gray
Setefano Sele
Jai Camilleri
Bryce Sait
Manako Piutau
William Saunders
Jackson Rieck
Jackson Taper
Harry Samuel
Aaron Keppie
Dallas Blackburn-Kingi
Tipene Thompson
Will Stewart

Curious if Pollard is still Flegg eligible if he starts the year there or starts for the Jets.

I'd like to see him take on the challenge of full time Jets now.

Insta stalking says Jai Camilleri is still here. Him and Pharrel Gray are probably the two I'd want to keep from that list (though I don't know most of them well).

Yeah be interesting - there's only Puru in front of him now for Sharks contracted depth options, besides stop gap solutions (Hiroti, Berrell).
So you'd he'd be a good chance given he held up to it last year.

If Rajab is looking notably better I guess start him in Jets and Pollard in Flegg - better for everyone except maybe Pollard. If it is close or Pollard is looking better then Jets from the get go makes sense, with a start available.

Thanks mate.

No reason to think Gray or anyone else won't return, but he was off contract (signed a 3 year deal) starting in 2023).

Keppie I assume is also a priority. Pushed up from SG Ball last year to become a starter in Flegg.

Yeah - big year for him.

Fans like to bag Puru and Rajab but the truth is that at 21 both were way too good for Flegg. Pollard hasn't shown that yet (in my opinion). Big year for him.

I actually though of all the Flegg players who went up least season Ford handled it the best - but he didn't defend much in the front line.

Pollard I thought had some nice touches but struggled overall.

I wonder how Sharks fans would feel if Rajab got moved on but Pollard stayed in Flegg at the expense of Ford on a Jets or T&T contract.

considering we have an ironman at hooker in first grade, it'd be interesting how many stick around if they all go well.

cacciotti you would think is next specialist after berrell, then keppie and camilleri going tit for tat in flegg leaves us well stocked. not to mention kobie wilson jumping back on board with the jets last year

im assuming thats why isdale and elijah thaiday shin turned tale and ran after seeing our halfback and forward stocks

i agree and maybe throw setefano sele and bryce sait in there too. the rest ive seen very little of
