Nah - NRL squad should be playing until the NRL team is eliminated. I’m would take at least 3 injuries to get CV into an NRL game but it is still possible.

I also vehemently disagree with punishing players who are leaving at the end of the year rather than picking the team on merit - unless the team is mathematically eliminated.
 
Is there a problem with Newtowns stats, or did Felix really have 87 kick return meters?

I assume so. Both were HM's this season and they are they are the same age and both in the same Engadine junior team. Maybe fraternal twins,?

Neither played for HM's this year but they were both in the squad. Chace was 18th man for one game.

Jett recently re-signed with the Sharks. Will be turning 17 next year so still HM's in 2027.

I don't know birth dates for those two, but regardless if either plays they will be up there with Williams and Dellow as the only Sharks players to appear in Flegg in their turning-18 year since it changed to u21's.

Dellow 18 years, 40 days

Pollard was 18th man for a Flegg game in his turning-18 year but didn't play.

Double checked my notes. Ollie Lester (4 games in 2025) and Alex Challenor (1 game in 2024) have also played Flegg in their turning 18 season. I just don't have DoB for them so I don't have them on my final list / comparison graph.

A single glance at the log-jammed KOE NSW Cup ladder tells the story: this is the most important home game of the season so far.

After last Saturday’s results, Newtown briefly slipped to tenth. Twenty-four hours later, a commanding rout of an undermanned Manly Sea Eagles saw our Men All Dressed in Blue surge back to fifth — just two points behind fourth-placed Souths. Remarkably, only two points separate fifth from tenth. With five rounds remaining, everything counts in large amounts.

The Jets snapped a three-game losing streak last weekend, while the Rabbitohs arrive chasing their third straight win. Both sides will field teams stacked with NRL experience, and the prestigious Rayner–Farrell Cup — honouring two giants of each club — is on the line.

There’s nowhere else to be this Saturday than Henson Park. Come all ye Bluebags faithful, raise the colours high, and help get our boys home.

Wilson and Nadenic both played for the Pirates last night.

Dragons dropped Atko to Cup. Did the Sharks a big favour. Just knocked over the Roosters - who had won 5 in a row and are one of the teams chasing the Jets.

Big game today. A Jets win puts them in to 4th with a 2 point gap and a good F/A advantage over 5th and 6th. A loss could see them drop to 9th.
 
Bunnies score a craptacular try after a couple of wobbly kicks. Jets lead 8-6

Jets have bombed a few chances. Ford (?) couldn't find the right pass after an 80m break started by Ison

Nobody massively standing out. Felix always looks a class above, Ison dangerous but some errors
 
Grantham having a good game so far in Flegg. Scored a try and kicked 3 goals, Sharks lead 18-12 at halftime.

Good win for Flegg. Down 12-0 early. Got it back to a 24-18 lead and then piled on 4 late tries. 46-18 final.

Lester made a comeback. Played the last 15 minutes or so off the bench. Looked good.

He’s played really well the last two weeks.

I didn’t think he went that well in SG Ball this season. He is going better against 21 year olds than he did against 19 year olds. Could say the same of all the boys who have come up. Maybe just the hot weather and short prep for SG Ball doesn’t lend itself to the best brand of footy - especially for big units.

In Curran’s case getting some footy under his belt after a long injury is probably a factor too.

the smaller boys can cut him down lower in a tackle, the biggers boys have too much ego and go for the hit
 
Good weekend for male teams who aren't the Pirates.

Jets are sitting 4th and locked in a 7-way battle for 4th/5th with four games to go. It's very unlikely they catch any of the teams above them, so it is all about holding off the chasers. 3 points separate 4th and 10th at the moment, and several teams behind the Jets have better F/A or byes in hand. Remaining games are against 11th, 10th, 2nd and 12th. Winning 3 of 4 might get them home. Losing 2 of their last 4 would definitely see them miss out.

Flegg are almost guaranteed to play finals with four rounds remaining. They are also 4th but have a 3 point gap on 5th and 6th, a 4 point gap on 7th and both a bye in hand and an enormous F/A advantage over those three teams. 5 and 6 also play each other in the last round so can't both win all of their games. It's mathematically possible that the Sharks miss out, but it would take them losing all three of their remaining games, specific results in other matches, and a really big F/A swing against them. Winning one more game locks them in to the finals. Winning all three would give them a chance of sneaking in to 3rd.

Pirates continue to be the league's punching bag, but only lost 17-10 on the weekend. They play the team in second-last this week. There are only three games left before they get put out of their misery but I'm still holding out hope that they can win one game.
