Official Newtown Jets + Sharks Pathways 2026

iro prefers the left so it makes for a tricky situation. and i like the iro/ronnie combo (put em both in your tryscorers multi today too)

i think its something that gabrael needs to work on if he wants that first grade centre spot

Ronnie switched to his non preferred side so Katoa can play on his preferred so no reason Iro couldn’t do the same

Players are picked in rep team then signed and recruited for their physical attributes rather than their skills, then they get dropped into specific positions and left there because they look good rather than being put in different situations to develop their skills.

Do that often enough for long enough and you end up with what we have now.

MG is great at positioning his winger and putting him over on his left. Attempting to draw and pass to his right he looked like someone who had never played Rugby League.
I can’t believe there isn’t more emphasis on it, nobody can tell me if you practice this for 30 mins every day for months on end you don’t improve your skills.
In a tight game, that can be the difference between winning a game & blowing the opportunity. I don’t care if you play wing, prop, whatever, learn the basic skills.

If Nikora could start getting named consistently in cup I'd like to start getting overexcited about that particular option

The ol left centre right winger multi?

Yeah for sure.

Most of the opportunity for improvement is when players are teenagers playing games though. You can do a million drills and older players can improve but will never be as good as if they used those skills in games when they were 7-15.

Look at Bailey Hayward. He’d be practicing his passing plenty. He’s improved but no matter how many drills he does he is never going to pass like Brailey.

Proper development has to start in younger years. That’s why doing away with rep teams snd finals until they are older is a good thing. Need to put players in different situations to develop their skills rather than focusing on what they are good at so the team can win games.

Yeah? Certainly didn't notice it so much on the other side of the ball. I'll have a look back via the highlights.

I actually noticed him make a few good tackles, but that doesn't mean much for his overall game in d.
Yeah. He made some nice plays in defence but was on the wrong side of a few moments. One really bad miss on Luciano. The others he wasn’t totally to blame but coukd possibly have played it better.

I think he played well overall. Just some details to improve.

Yeah just watched it back. Fair call, he'd want to do better. But not unusual for Leilua to run over first graders like that either.

Thought he'd want to have done better on the catch for their second try, but in fairness to him I think he tracked back from marker to go for it.

The thing I like is he's never waiting for the game to come to him, if there's a chance to be involved, he's there. I'm not sure if that's potentially a negative at times too though.

Yeah this is how I feel about those plays. I just think that those things would be highlighted at a higher level, so let’s give him time.

Mostly positives i think. Game breakers are risk takers. Can’t complain about not having the first unless you are willing to live with the second.

Great win for Fkegg yesterday 42-18 over fhe top of the table Dargons. Really dominant display. Dargons only points came from 2 kick tried and one intercept.

Lots of good individual efforts. Left edge carved up. Simmonds highly involved with Tannous out.

Jake White went off with a leg injury. Looked look cramp originally but he’d only been on for a few minutes. That leg was strapped already.
Hopefully not serious.

I would have liked to be there for the Flegg game but my wife came along yesterday and she hates getting there early. Got there for the last 20 minutes but didn’t see much of that either as a mate decided to come up and chat with me while I was trying to watch the game.

There's an easy fix for that...

Mine hasn’t trusted me since the day many years ago we arrived to watch a game.

Got there around 5pm and boy was she surprised when kickoff was 7:30

A few players out and all three teams playing back to back to back at the same stadium. I could see Dellow making his way on to the Jets bench / 18th man or running as 20th man with the NRL team this week.

I'd expect one of Tuks/Hosking to be named in the NRL squad as #18 or #19. Probably Tuks.

One of those guys missing likely means more minutes for Fa'atili and McCulloch.

Only joking Chad we all know youre a true gentleman 👍

Dellow not named in either grade, presumedly resting for possible U19 Origin selection, as discussed in other thread

Yeah. If they go in to a camp that could be the case.

Wasn’t sure on the camp situation, which is why I thought he might still make the trip but be 18th or 20th.

I think we rested players last year too, either enforced or voluntary (to give them a good chance)?. I could be wrong though. And could be another reason for his absence too, as you say

Yeah you are right. Williams and PLS both sat out the week before 19’s origin last year.
