Official Newtown Jets + Sharks Pathways 2026

considering we have an ironman at hooker in first grade, it'd be interesting how many stick around if they all go well.

cacciotti you would think is next specialist after berrell, then keppie and camilleri going tit for tat in flegg leaves us well stocked. not to mention kobie wilson jumping back on board with the jets last year

im assuming thats why isdale and elijah thaiday shin turned tale and ran after seeing our halfback and forward stocks

i agree and maybe throw setefano sele and bryce sait in there too. the rest ive seen very little of
Cacciotti can also play lock. I reckon he'll snag a bench spot on the Jets by mid-season if not straight up.

I was critical of Wilson when he was in the pathways. Always highly rated but had too many brain explosions. I thought he was solid when he played for the Jets last year though. Really good service, defended well and has cut out the errors.

Keppie I really like. Good player, but the Aaron Raper look with tape around the head is what sucked me in.

Of course he can ;)

Billy Magoulias's Rugby League Academy has put up a post congratulating a kid named Harlem on joining the Sharks pathways.

I'm guessing they are talking about Harlem Schwenke from Endeavour. Turning 17 I think, so likely part of the 18's Development Squad.

Dunno but they probably all think they're better than they are.
Born in the wrong era old Billy Mags! In 2026 football he'd probably make the NRL team way more -- just wouldn't actually get a run that often...

Below is a list of players Flegg players who various sources have listed as being under contract or part of the squad. Pollard, Gabrael and Cacciotti are also still eligible.

Alex Challenor
Nikora Williams
Prestyn Laine-Sietu
Jai Davies
Lachlan Araullo
Ashton Simmonds
Richard Whalebone
Yuri Hronow
Bailey Leach
Blake Wardrobe
Cooper Hannay
Adrian Sandy
Marc Tannous
Daniel Louka
Waka Tate
Elijah Paea

The following players are either from last year's squad and are all still eligible, or are aging up from SG Ball - but I haven't seen anything confirming either way. I assume most are at least part of the training squad.

Pharrel Gray
Setefano Sele
Jai Camilleri
Bryce Sait
Manako Piutau
William Saunders
Jackson Rieck
Jackson Taper
Harry Samuel
Aaron Keppie
Dallas Blackburn-Kingi
Tipene Thompson
Will Stewart
All the players in your second list are still contracted current Flegg players apart from Saunders and Rieck. Not sure about BB-Kingi. There's other players in there too who have been signed. The club doesnt assist your efforts too much with the lack of news.

Thanks mate. I for one appreciate your inside knowledge because I have none .

Yeah be interesting - there's only Puru in front of him now for Sharks contracted depth options, besides stop gap solutions (Hiroti, Berrell).
So you'd he'd be a good chance given he held up to it last year.

If Rajab is looking notably better I guess start him in Jets and Pollard in Flegg - better for everyone except maybe Pollard. If it is close or Pollard is looking better then Jets from the get go makes sense, with a start available.
Fitz said in his interview with Sam that Pollard will be paired with Puru this year.

No idea what that means for Rajab.

He also said Niwhai is next in line, and was close to a debut last year - but Atko was ahead of him because of utility value.

Ford also still part of the mix. Fitz said he missed much of the pre-season (he had an ankle injury at the back end of last year).

I would assume Rajab will still be there, but just as a first cab kind of deal like he was last year. I believe he was only brought into Newtown for coverage

Jets trainer Spencer Goggin has been putting up drills from Jets training on Instagram.

Rajab is there.

A couple of guys tagged Peter Taateo. I Googled him and it turns out he was announced as a Jets signing back in December.

Jaxon Lavender (Second rower, Raiders Jersey Flegg captain) is also tagged.

Here is the one with Rajab. I used to play this one with the under 10's. Turns out the big boys like it too.

Yeah. Cover and transition.

2024 was signed just after Trindall's stuff up. Atko went to NRL and the Jets needed someone to replace him for the foreseeable future. Pollard was 18 and still playing SG Ball at that time. They won the comp so Rajab must have been doing something right.

2025 provided a nice transition for Pollard to be able to float between Cup and Flegg.

2026 Rajab slips down the depth chart. Fitz said Pollard, Ford, Jones are all options to partner Puru as needed. Rajab can play other positions though. so chances are he'll still pop up in the Jets team a few times.

Jets guys don't block Sharks players. They are part of the plan.

Doesn't look terrible (video is in the article too).

We thought they might need to pad up their edge stocks a bit with the departures

Both Purus plus Hiroti confirmed for All Stars.

A few Sharks ladies in there too.

No Trindall is interesting my though you’d have thought he’d want to play and be picked ahead of Niwhai. We must have made him unavailable for some reason?

I assume JC and Nicho halves

Here's a example of how the pathways up here in Qld are closed off to good players who don't go to footy schools.

The way it is supposed to work is that each Q Cup team has an U17's team which they create from their catchment.

Here is Wynnum's 17 for round 1.

I know one kid who did trial (he goes to the school where the coach is a teacher). He was told that the first 8 positions were already spoken for by contracted players and that those 8 kids wouldn't be training with them or playing trials. Everyone else was training to compete for what was left.

Halfback is Harris-Tavita's younger brother. Was flown in from NZ for the start of the comp.

If you didn't already have a contract or play for Wynnum or their closest feeder your chance of being invited to trial was near-zero.

If you were a backline player who was not already signed to the NRL your chances of making the starting team was zero.

And the broncos ones are primarily identified through a few schools?
