Something else worth mentioning is that Newtown has a feeder arrangement with the Glebe Dirty Reds (Glebe-Burwood RLFC) who play in the Ron Massey Cup. I'd imagine given the amount of players on the Sharks/Jets that some of these guys will be sent down.

Is Matthew related to Stan? Not a common surname.

Not sure. He is Luke's older brother. Luke will most likely be the starting 6 for the U20's this season.

There is an interview where they mention that their Dad has 10 siblings - so maybe its a bit more common surname than it seems. I'd guess Stan fits in there somewhere.

i thought stein had gone to the titans? good to see we kept him

Not sure. He played for Penrith last season. He wasn't listed as a trial player or a contracted player by the Jets so maybe he has just joined recently.

The Punani came back

He actually came back late last year and finished the year with the Jets. He's trialing this year and hasn't signed a contract yet to my knowledge. Newtown has plenty of halves depth (Flanagan, Williams, Hodko, Marschke) so I can't see anyone from outside winning a job unless it is to play down at Glebe.

As per Sharks web site and Kyle Flano thread... he will miss the first few weeks with a broken thumb,

So I’m guessing that’ll mean either Paulo or Williams will start alongside Hodgko to start the year.

Williams or Jesse Marschke - Kennedy can play 6 too if needed. Luke Jurd (from the 20's) played a couple of games for Newtown last year when he was still 18 so he is an option if they are stuck.

I think it depends on Williams injury status and whether Blayke Brailey plays 20's (Ben Marshke is the only hooker in Newtown currently but Williams end up in a utility role).

Anyone see much of the Jets last year? Wondering if Dillon could be a realistic chance of a first grade bench spot.

I've seen stuff all of him but trial form was good. Seems like he's been talked up for quite a while as a hard hitter and strong runner. Sharks profile says he's 23 now so just a bit worried he'll move on if not given a shot soon.

I think he was inches away from a debut for a lot of the season, I’ll be stunned if he doesn’t get a crack this year.

I was just thinking the same thing. We would need to be down around 3 forwards before he would be even considered.

Paolo, Capewell, Uele, Snorenson are all before him. All of these guys will be fighting for 1 bench spot and are all in front of him. You also need to consider that Bukya and Gallen can play as prop if necessary meaning someone like Capewell can essentially fill in for a prop (not ideal, but if you are down on troops and want experience, will probably be a strong consideration.)
