13 Jack Williams (also named in the 21 man NRL squad)

Notes
Aufaga-Toomaga, Vasquez, King, Faalua, Tuilagi, Jordan Topai-Aveai are the Sharks players not named in any grade (plus injuries)

Dillon and Hodkinson were both named in the 21 man NRL squad last week but did not play in any grade

Leigh Higgins, Malakai Houma and Matthew Jurd are the Jets players not named.

Also re: Briton Nikora, he is born in 1997 so not eligible for 20's. Last week he either didn't play or got a run with Glebe.

Newtown played as programmed again. They got the win 24-12.

A few notes of the Sharks players

- Kennedy scored again, making it 3 tries from 2 games
- Brailey played 67 minutes and scored another try. Here are his two tries from the first two rounds. https://twitter.com/twitter/statuses/974460491392172032
- Nikora went off for a HIA after 9 minutes and didn't return.
- Magoulias played 60 minutes off the bench at prop.
- Jack A Williams (the lock) played 80 minutes.
- Sorensen went off after 55 minutes for a HIA and didn't return

Where is Gray? I thought if he was dropped from 1st grade he'd at least be playing reserves for Newtown considering he's a 1st grader.

Didn't expect Kyle back this soon. Good to see.

So he's in there at centre where Ramien is named?

You'd expect a few changes to the squad this week prior to kick-off. I wouldn't be surprised to see both Gray and Dillon come in to the Newtown squad and I'd also be surprised if both those halves started. Dillon needs a game I reckon. Having a month off footy to start the season is not ideal. Maybe Flano will give him a run over Capewell or Paulo.

I wouldn’t have Dillon over Paulo. He’s done well when he’s come on, looks sharp in attack and helps shore up the ruck defence.

Flanno wants/needs to win - I don't think he is concerning himself with giving a player a run right now unless he has plans for them throughout the season. It's what reserve grade is for but following on from burgess comment that only really helps if you are getting games in it. However with Uele injured Flanno still needs some backup for game day

Paulo has been good and doesn't do any silly's and Caperoy was good in his short minutes against Merge and has already won Flanno's favour as a semi-regular selection. Ava has been pretty strong and Seggy ain't going anywhere

Even if Flanno wanted another middle player on the bench I don't think Dillon's any chance barring injury

burgess is it possible for Dillon to play for the Jets on the Sunday or rules don't allow it after he is selected in extended NRL squad for that round?

I just meant that Dillon could do with a run so I wouldn't be surprised to see him play in one grade or the other. Not advocating him over one of those blokes at all.

There are no rules around who can play for Newtown. Players can get dropped down or come up from other grades as needed. The only rule with NSW Cup is that a player who has started in the NRL can't then play NSW Cup on the same weekend (you can play off the bench in NRL and then play NSW Cup though - L. Leilua did it last weekend in fact).

So does that mean "Ramien" (formerly known as Gray) is going to the Knights next year and "Gray" (formally known as Ramien) is staying at the Sharks?

I'm okay with that!

Will be a bit of a surprise for Nathan Brown. O Week should be interesting.

Jack J Williams is injured (concussion). Should be good for next week.

Some updates

- Jack A Williams dropped off the 21 man squad
- Hodko playing NRL (assuming Marschke takes his place)
- Lee and Ramien both still in 19 man squad so will likely have to replace at least one of them for the Jets. Best guess is Moraitis to the centres and bring in another forward on the bench (Dillon?)
