It occurred to me a few years back that no NRL teams had a good rousing rock song to represent them, so I decided to change that.I've been playing in bands for the last thirty years and as a born and bred Shire boy and Sharks supporter, I wrote and recorded a full on, driving rocker with my band, that according to all that have heard it so far, would get the fans going.I sent it to the Sharks marketing manager but had no response but I would really like to get the hardcore fans to hear it and if they llike it maybe they could influence the powers that be to use it in some way.As far as I know,no team has ever had a song specifically written and recorded for them by their fans so this makes it a first in the NRL.If anyone wants to hear it please contact me and I'll get you a copy. This would be a perfect chanter at the games and going by some comments on other topics here, that would be just the thing to lift the team when they're down.It rocks!

dont worry about the marketing department, if they dont think of it, then its a bad idea, they are stuck in the square.
putting it to this site. and maybe have the cssc sell the disc on their site.

not in the shire anymore :(
I think Up Up Cronulla was originally written by one of the brothers (ie; monks) at De La Salle, who did a bit of training with the boys back in the day, and was also probably a fan.

Interesting that he chose the tune of 'Roll Out The Barrels' to write it to.

But yeah, get it on myspace or youtube for us to hear.

Thanks for the interest. After sending it I found out that there are a few other songs on this site but when it comes to things like putting my song on here I'm not too sharp in that department.I have it in my music file but I don't have a clue as to how to transfer it to this site.Any tips?

Dave Faulkner, front man for the Hoodoo Gurus is also a Sharks fan and wrote a song for them to use, however Sharks management turned it down (so the story goes). He has since written a victory song for QLD and adapted his famous What's My Scene? for the NRL into That's My Game.
Apparently while his skills were good enough for them, they weren't up to scratch for the Sharks.

Yeah,I remember talking to a previous marketing guy and he told me that the Gurus wanted a lot of money for the song.I sent a copy of mine to his successor and got no reply.I decided to try and get it to the fans and let them have their say and if they don't like it then fair enough, I'll put it to rest.Oh well I'll try to get it posted here and see what happens.

I believe that former shark Al Wilson was the man who came up with the idea for the NRL "that's my game". Al by the way played every position in 1st grade, bar front row, in one season, although he says he packed in to a scrum in the spot but the bell rang

If you have it on CD, use this link to contact the owner of this site. You can post him a CD and he can easily upload it into the Audio Thread. I have spoken to him about this before (I have a number of BUZSongs on 4 track magnetic tape), and he is very welcoming in this department.............although catching up with him on a day off is another thing :).

Since you have said that you can send us members copies of your song, I'm guessing that you already have it on CD............but if you don't, here is a list of NSW companies who can transfer your data to CD (If you have a DAT copy it should cost you under $50)

Click this list

Hope this helps.

:cheers

Sharks Anthem follow up.

If you read my earlier post about the song that I have written and recorded for the Sharks then you'll know that I've been having trouble getting on this site, however one of my bandmates has put it on my band's Myspace page.To hear it go to Myspace enter rocks 1977 and then scroll down until you see a picture of one of our records called Your So Boring.Hit the link next to it and the next page will have a music player with our track listing.Scroll down to where it says Sharks Tribute then crank it and play.I know it's a bit complicated but we're still trying to get on this site.Hopefully soon. Here's the lyrics.

Who's got hearts of iron who's got nerves of steel
Who keeps the leather flying when they take the field
Well it's not a secret but if you need a clue,
They're the black the white and blue

Sharkies! Sharkies! shout it out and wave the banners high
Sharlies! sharkies! the Sharks will never die.

They've no fear of losing and they feel no pain
As they charge across the line again again and again
It's a fearsome sight to see them come at you
They're the black the white and blue.

^ Here's a direct link to the page

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=119065903

I'm on dial-up, so I can't download songs from MySpace.

All I managed to hear was a lot of 'Sharkies....Sharkies........The Sharks will never die' :p.

Maybe with this link, someone on this sight might be able to import the song into the audio thread.

I was a bit young to see you guys back in the day, but I remember Rocks from the 'Not so Humdrum' compilation..........1234 1234 Kamikaze twist, migraine headache gonna spoil my fun :D.

That was one of my favourite records for about a year........I also bought records from Suicide Squad, Exserts, Happy Hate Me Nots, and Itchy Rat.

My first band did a version of the Suicide Squad cover 'New World in the Morning'.

One of the Admins on this site is called KELPIE, and whenever I see his name it reminds me of this period of Sydney punk :D.
