I've seen worse then that not even given 10 in the bin & he gets sent for that tonight? Sorry but that is ridiculous by that referee.

That send off was laughable
Ref should be sacked for that

The bunker gives the directive to put on report/bin/send off. The bloke on field is just a mouth piece for whoever the ****s in the bunker.

Sent straight off for that… unlucky

Finally some consistency.

Good to see that the special “send off Hetherington for minor contact” rule is applied consistently for all Hetheringtons.

Ref should be sacked for that

https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/06/12/round-14-charges/

Broncos forward Kobe Hetherington is facing a fine after being sent off during his side's loss to Canberra on Saturday night.

Two players are facing suspensions and two others are in line for fines following a review of Saturday's matches.
Hetherington, who was sent from the field in the 60th at GIO Stadium, avoids any chance of suspension after only attracting a grade one charge.

He faces a fine of $1150-$1500 unless he is successful at the judiciary.

And further proof that it was a soft send off with Hetherington only facing a small fine.
It didn’t change the result in this instance but that was a poor decision from the officials.

Boyd Cordner just announced immediate retirement due to his concussion related set backs. Sad way to retire but made a good decision putting his health first.

Continuing my rant from earlier in this thread...

Today I saw an ELEVEN YEAR OLD player taken from the field after being hit in the face with a closed fist swinging arm. The player was bleeding from the mouth, failed a concussion test, and now requires medical clearance to return to play.

No penalty was awarded.

If the NRL is legit about stopping head knocks, this is the **** that needs to end.

Rant over.

what was the ref doing? don't think can blame NRL for a juniors match though not sure how much work or messaging they have done down the grades and to the grass roots levels about what is expected

The ref was probably about 18 months older than the kids. Not his fault necessarily. He shouldn’t be put in that situation, or the club should have some senior overseeing him. It’s just not good enough. Mums don’t pull their kids out of rugby league because Papenhuyzen got nailed or Sims copped a crusher tackle. They leave because their kids aren’t getting protected.
