Moss Vale Dragons up against it two rounds in

THE Moss Vale Dragons face a must-win game against Narellan at Community Oval on April 11 after losing their first two games of the season. Two close losses against Oakdale 32-24 and East Campbelltown 34-28 on Sunday at Warminda Oval have shown the Dragons can match it with the best, but captain-coach Willie Macdonald will want the team to arrest their early season form slump.

Club president Greg Burke said the game against Easts was a seesawing affair, with Moss Vale getting punished for a few mistakes.

Having Mark Delamont back from a stint with the Cronulla Sharks and former Moss Vale junior Josh Champion playing in the centres is a boost for the club, but they were unable to stem the tide on Sunday.

Macdonald had his first run after nearly losing his hand in a work related accident but the team had plenty of room for improvement, Burke said.
Reserve grade lost 40-6, while the under-18s had to forfeit.

Paul Maloney has taken up the reigns of the under-18s after Bruce Noble had to step down because of work commitments.

Maloney coached the current group of players during their junior years and club secretary Luke Hannon was quick to squash speculation the side had folded.

He said the forfeits were because of incomplete paperwork and cricket finals commitments.

In a bid to boost numbers, registration is free thanks to sponsor Subway Moss Vale. Training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm.

Appin beat Bowral 38-10 in third grade.
