Great news man! Sounds like a huge improvement from your worst fears. Here's hoping he'll be back to full strength and confidence to play again next year if he chooses to.

Just the ACL would have been a lot less painful but at least the recover time is shorter! Hopefully around that 6 month mark!

Do you think he will be itching to get back to playing? or has this scarred him a bit mentally as well as physically?
Hopefully hasn't put him off, but don't think anyone would blame him as it sounds like a really brutal 'tackle' mechanism from description and to break the bone up like that

I don’t think the injury is going to turn him off, but the timing sucks for sure. Loses his grade 12 year plus last year of div 1 club plus any chance to trial for junior reps for next year. Effectively closes the door on higher levels for him.

I think I missed a full season the same age then, and presumably that's why I didn't make the NRL.
We'll say that's why.

He'll just have to tell a VR podcast years from now how he had to take the hard road and you don't need to make every junior rep team to make the NRL.

Haha yeah.

It’s not about the NRL though. Just about playing at a decent level.

Definitely a thinking moment for him though. Does he want to work his dick off and try to work his way up to Cup in a few years, or does he want to just go back and towel up some local kids next year.

A more lighthearted issue if you don't mind.

As a result of my poor judgement, my wallet is about to suffer a hit of Hoppa on Galloway or Inglis on Young proportion.
What looked to be not so smart at the time was actually bloody ****ing stupid in hindsight.
Right now I know I'm going to lose my shirt, I hope I'll get to keep my pants. Only time will tell.

I've got the full support of the board, but unsurprisingly her family is far from impressed. Let's just say that I got toppled off my perfect son-in-law pedestal faster than any of Saddam Hussein's statues. This is how high I am perceived at the moment.

Rough seas ahead.

Writing this probably isn't as cathartic as it could be, but at least I can still laugh at my own expense. I mean, why pay a few hundred bucks when you can end up with a bill that's 500 to 1000 times that.

I can't stop marveling at my own stupidity, truly a sight to behold.
