Memberships went on sale yesterday: https://www.sharks.com.au/news/2020/10/28/rise-up-for-2021--new-season-memberships-now-on-sale/

There are some good features:
- Members Cap coming back, and better Members pack
- Members signed on for 2021 prior to November 17 will have their packs delivered pre-Christmas

I get the sense though that our membership/crowd numbers are going to be embarrassing if we are allowed full crowds again in 2021. Nobody I talk to seems more inclined to go to Kogarah than they were this year (maybe less inclined given lacklustre finish to the year). It just seems completely off the radar, with most just planning to wait it out until we return to Woolooware.

The membership team will clearly have better insights into numbers/$$$ goals, but I feel like we need to do something a bit more radical for 2021. Maybe have a time-limited pre-Christmas special where multiple kids tickets are free with a paying adult membership (for lower-tier memberships). I realise that runs the risk of upsetting existing paid members, but if we are going to lose money regardless, we may as well try to get crowds at least. Otherwise it feels like it could be a fairly negative year ahead.

Interested in any thoughts...

I have no doubt about that. Our home crowds will be lucky to average 7k imo.

Hopefully those not attending come back in 2022.

Disappointing, but not at all surprising - Our fans are fair weather enough as it is, god help us if they need to go down the road to watch their team.

In saying that I anticipate social distancing will still be required at a minimum so we'll probably get away with it and can use COVID as the excuse for poor crowds.

On the bright side they now have Pet memberships so I can sign my dog up.

Ha I didn't see the Pet membership, that will probably sell as well as the ticketed memberships.

You are right on the COVID excuse too, hopefully crowds are limited to 50% max.

I also notice on the membership website it says our 2020 membership count was 13679, that's not as bad as I thought.

I hope they count the Pet memberships in next year's tally

That's very good, much higher than I thought. I rolled mine to next year so means I've already paid for my two seats for next year. Wonder if they double counted me, wont be mad if they do haha.

Pet membership has been used by Souths for several yrs to boost their $, not their numbers. There was some massive bitch between clubs a few yrs back, about pets membership, being included in your membership numbers

What’s on offer, looks very interesting.

Wow that's much better than I was expecting.

Same thing happened in the AFL years ago.

Was a good decision not to count pet memberships in numbers.

Definitely, a few clubs were livid when Souths tried to count pets as numbers in memberships.

When I was on the members council, one issue that was brought to light, was sharks fans being Fair weathered supporters, and they tried numerous ways to bring them out

They really needed to focus on non-ticketed memberships this year, because of Covid and Jubilee, and then convert them members into ticketed once we're back at Shark Park

That was a number carried over from 2019, it was never edited.

We didn't release our membership numbers at all this year, but it was around the 10k mark give or take

I bought a ticket to a sharks game at Kograh this year and my ticket said it was a 1 game membership. maybe to get around the covid protocol i dunno, no idea if is included in overall membership numbers. pretty sketchy if so

they should let pets into the ground considering they are paid up members. someone can bring a long a tank of guppies or something for a nice 100+ boost to the crowd figures
