He’s a 4th in line winger for our overall squad, if he’s happy to cop that & the associated wage that goes with it I’d re sign him but that could change if we have Avery good 18-21 yr old coming through the ranks.

Has re-signed for next year

At this stage I hope not , unless there is something special he hasn't shown us yet .
What are his best qualities ?

Speed ?
Evasiveness ?
Aggression ?
Bomb taking / defusing
But , happy to learn more about him from those who rate him

I'm sure we gave him 10 years at a million a year, everyone in our top 30 should have at least that and be a genuine game breaker and "footballer"

That's the difference between the Storm and the Roosters

Any player from their Top 30 even called into the seventeen , even on the minimum salary is a rising star
There are 100s of potential Gun winger out there .
What do you see in him Bort ?

Are Chris Lewis, Brenko Lee, Lumelume, Johns, Jacks, Eisenhuth, Booth, King, Moeroa and Smoothy all rising stars?
Are Keighran, Copley, Hutchison, Lam, DSF all rising stars?

Or are they NRL squad players doing their job and looking at times fairly decent because they are in a great team and great system?

Club + Mooney + Fitz* have signed plenty of players we are happy with, they must like something about Hiroti who has been decent for us as a deep depth back.

What do I see in him? I think he is a decent reliable backup to make up our squad 25-30. And at just 22 plenty of time for him to get better.

There’s probably a reason your 100s of potential gun wingers are ‘out there’ and Hiroti is playing NRL

Yeah, this. I mean, I read an article headline (saw a YouTube heading?) about Olam being the Centre of the year... People wouldn't know his name if he wasn't at the Storm!

Well said. Not everyone can be rising stars, and frankly they can't be because you'll just keep losing them to other teams.

Having a player like Hiroti who is cheap depth is what we need. He'll only play when there are injuries, and he might even get jumped by others (Lualua, Jensen, other signings)

He's solid, does the job and can cover centre at pinch too.

Let’s take Jordan Rapana as an example of a gun winger. Starting to decline a bit now at 32 but still pretty good.

Started at 19 with Titans NYC and then after a Morman mission he went and played Rugby. It wasn’t until 2014 that he signed with the Raiders as a 25 year old and his first two years were not that overwhelming. Suddenly in 2016 at the age of 27 he finally showed what he could do and the next 2-3 years showed him at his peak.

Hiroti is just 22. He’s still 3-4 years away from the same point that Rapana started to show his worth.

Some players have it right off, for some it takes a while.

Will Hiroti become a gun? Who knows?

But you can’t say he won’t. Not just yet anyhow.

Im cool with this. To use baseball terminology, he’s a good hand. Not a star and not even first choice or a regular first grader and probably never will be, but can plug a gap and fill in when its needed and do it at a low price. Every team needs guys like that.

Thought he was OK on the weekend - not offended keeping him on as depth.

not exactly a great finisher as a winger or brilliant in the air but his hitups are solid and he gives it everything effort wise.

he's more solid a player than Feki was when he started out with us

But if egg wants to put forth his list of 100s of gun wingers that are available (even just the top 100) and why they would make a better squad member than Hiroti I'd be keen to see his different arguments for them.

If any of them would be a better pick 'just in case', 'to see what they can do', 'they can't be any worse', 'they could be anything' or any variant of that bs you can leave them off your list please

Has a bit of nip and is a strong runner.

Bit uncoordinated at times but the Sharks have a long proud tradition of unco wingers.
