I do agree, but that 10 minutes is also far from the only time the coach sees Trindall all week.

The coach himself has access to much more information about how Trindall is tracking, what he needs to work on, what he can and can't do when playing the 7 role (admittedly mostly in a training environment).

I used to say I wasn't sure if 80 in Cup or 10 in NRL was better for him longer term, I've swung hard towards the 80 in Cup now myself, however seems like Fitz either feels it is the 10 in NRL that is better. Or at least feels Trindall on the bench is better for the NRL team (which may then change when Tracey returns).

Assuming Fitz knows better than us the question mark is perhaps more like is Fitz doing what is best for Trindall or the NRL team?

I also doubt Fitz is saying get on and pull a miracle out, you'd think he is there firstly as cover and then as a way to inject some energy and passing late in the game. Perhaps to his own detriment he does seem to be trying to chase the miracles.

Trindalls fragile ego (assigned to him by commenters more than anything he has done himself) may be damaged by reverting back to Cup.
I don't know him well enough to judge that however I do think if told to go he should go no questions asked and accept it. Has been suggested previously he should have quit our team when Townsend was being selected ahead of him. Well Townsend is halfback of the side 3rd on the ladder right now and we are debating if Trindall should get 10 minutes or dropped so maybe there was a reason Chad used to get a jersey over him...
no one is debating whether Trindall should get 10 minutes or dropped ? we would like to see the kid play his normal position, coach obviously loves what he sees of trindall since he has refused to drop him.

His current role doesn’t really make sense even from a re-signing point of view, how do you even justify re-signing Trindall ? It’s putting us in a corner to either pay up for Moylan or nothing

That has been debated extensively in this forum, if it is a new concept for you you'll probably come across it eventually.

Yes Western Sharkie did specifically say he thinks Trindall should be playing 80 either in NRL or Cup but despite him not mentioning it (until his next sentence) there is a third option, playing NRL off the bench. Given that is what is currently happening I didn't think me mentioning it was that outlandish.

If your defence for Trindall to play 80 in NRL is coach must love him or he wouldn't be on the bench have a look at where the coach has Moylan playing. At the moment it is probably unlikely Trindall plays 80 in the NRL until injury gives him a chance. Which in the meantime leaves options of 80 in cup or 10 from the bench in NRL.

From a re-signing point of view, which I think is a legitimate question, I'd just have to refer back to what I said originally, the coach sees and knows a lot more about the player than we do. You also noted coach likes him enough to play him in NRL so I'd assume he could justify re-signing him if he chooses to.

The Reason Grasshoper, would seem a hedged bet, between the kids "Development" or that Moylan will break down mid game. Simples

DWZ will probably be lining up for another shot on Moyza this round.

We should put a thinning light-brown wig on Sifa.
I think Sifa did murder DWZ last year (which may be why you specified him) so I think DWZ will be staying well clear of anything as wide as it is tall

You know if Trindall actually kicked on or if we actually get to see him play 7 we would know whether we even need to look for another option, but the last 10 mins on the field in some random ass roving position will do, it’s doing wonders.. I get he doesn’t want to hurt the kid by “dropping” him but I don’t think it’s doing any favours for anyone

agree it's not helping Trindall and it isn't helping our team but for some reason the coach seems to think it is. Fitz isn't a fool surely he has seen that Trindall hasn't performed that well. He is either backing him to come good and do good things in his 10 mins per game or he is seriously concerned about Moylans hammys or another injury in the spine or backline.

This still doesn't make sense as we have had only 1 injury in a key position during a game and that was Kennedy the other week which put Hynes at fullback. And this is where it really falls down cause if he comes on to cover an injury how well is he actually going to cover it performance wise compared to an alternative player shuffle without the wasted bench spot?

In the pre-season I was happy to go with Trindall and give him the chance as a starting half but cameo minutes or not I just don't think he is up to FG at present. He's a sloppy player with a tonne of things to work on, some of it mental but ALOT of it execution wise

let him play cup 80 mins a week and get himself together then reaccess

I agree re Trindall Chad but dont forget we need to cover for HIAs (not just injuries). This dramatically increases the requirement of needing coverage.

Sifa had some huge hits last year. I recall he seyafingsmashed a bulldogs player in their 20 with a legitimate hit & got 4 weeks for it. Penalty to Bulldogs , pressure released 18-12 to Bulldogs - BS!

Yeah that was charged as a shoulder charge I believe, which I still don't think it was technically.

Really threw off his season too

Had a great game. The commentators made a deal out of a lazy attempt to drag in a stray ball but it's probably something he does 20 times a day at training.
I don't think it was that lazy.
He did a similar move close to our line later in the game that worked and probably changed the course of the game.
