Man of steel undoubtedly
I would be tempted to chuck 10 on him if you can bet on it.
Man of steel undoubtedly
Welcome aboard
Pipped Paul Green for #69 on the list of games played in the bw&b with 102. Won’t hold that spot for long though. A few current squad members are in the 80’s and 90’s.Seems he is welcome offboard as well
I said a while back that if Mozza can't find his way back into this Sharks team that is his NRL career done and now it is
Can't blame him, he could have stayed in our squad, worked his ass off up against current and future prospects and it still would have been no guarantee of getting a spot back in FG or keeping it for that matter. It's on him why he got dropped in the first place though.
Biggest signing in Leigh's history says alot about the ESL when you consider no one in the NRL probably wanted Mozza anymore.
But I think ESL is potentially a competition that is improving quality and competition wise but I don't watch enough to be sure of that. The English international team is far stronger than they used to be in any case.
In theory Mozza won't have as hard a time in the ESL defensively so he really could carve up over there in the right setup / players around him. Crazy to think he was more a Shark than a Panther by the time it's all wrapped up in NRL for him playing more games for us than the Pennies.
He never seemed or felt like a proper Shark though, more just a visitor to our colours but at the same time has become apart of the scenery with us lot and he didn't cause as much trouble off field.
As for Mr Chester's comments on the Moylan signing, there is fluff and then there is talking total BS hahaha.
Guess he needs to pump the fans up a bit with the news and have Mozza feel highly valued
Cool.If that is accurate it would be pre cap upgrade. Moyza would have gotten the 18% ratchet.
$350k ratcheted would be $413k.
I think between Dykes, Atkinson and Puru we probably have enough halves depth not to need to bring in another one.It will be interesting if Tracey leaves too as is being reported. That leaves some money available for a new signing or even a mid season next year. I'm a fan of the mid season signing because you can get value from a disgruntled player wanting out.
What does this mean for top 30? We'll see.
Most years he has been good when he plays, only remember one multi game stretch of garbage (before this year), def some issues as he swapped back and forth between positions tooMy summary of Moylans Shark Career
2018: Mixed Bag - couldn't pass, couldn't catch but had some good games later on and showed up traitor Maloney in finals against Panthers. Showed his class and potential at times but legs were starting to go and his timing was way off at times.
2019: Injured (probably) Crap (probably). honestly don't even remember him this season
2020: Injured (defs) Crap (defs) Attitude and commitment questionable
2021: Injured (defs) - crap (probably) at least had a crack in defense.
2022: Good season
2023: Mixed Bag. Handy with ball but couldn't tackle
Decent nice fella off the pitch, a very topsy turvey NRL career
Why didn't we keep this bloke?2019 in 11 games
1st: Shaun Johnson - 20.5
2nd: Chad Townsend - 19.5
3rd: Josh Morris - 14
4th: Braden Hamlin-Uele - 13
5th: Josh Dugan - 11.5
6th: Andrew Fifita - 10
7th: Matt Moylan - 8
Are we going the snowman path of using 3-2-1 votes as hard evidence of a player's performance? Most years he has been good when he plays, only remember one multi game stretch of garbage (before this year), def some issues as he swapped back and forth between positions too
2021 in 15 games
1st: William Kennedy - 38
2nd: Toby Rudolf - 15
3rd: Jack Williams - 11.5
4th: Connor Tracey - 11
5th: Matt Moylan - 10.5

In 2020 he missed two rounds (then we had covid break), played bench, played FE, missed a game, played FB 3 weeks in a row, missed 4 games, played FE 3 games in a row, done for the season. Even then we won 5/7 games he started in a year our overall winrate was 50%
But really between the moves and injuries he didn't have much hope of having a 'good' season there.
In 2019 he got 5 of his 8 votes in round 1 and 2 - he did play 3 but then was gone until round 11, played a decent stint after that but only had one more 3 point game, his round 11 return. We did have a big win the next week but then was a string of four 1-2 point losses (all four we scored more tries than oppositon, SJ goal kicking). He missed round 23 onwards, through to final.
I'd characterise them as 'easy evidence'Are we going the snowman path of using 3-2-1 votes as hard evidence of a player's performance?
Unfortunately we just couldn't match Cows big offer! Devastating...Why didn't we keep this bloke?
Fair enough*I'd characterise them as 'easy evidence'
If a player is getting votes from the forum we are obviously liking what we see, especially when it comes to generally unpopular players like Moylan.
Definitive and concrete evidence they are not, but why even have it if you can't look at it at the end of the season and surmise the players with the most votes must have had a some good games.
Keen to see his votes per ball in play breakdown compared to the others though...
Unfortunately we just couldn't match Cows big offer! Devastating...
I agree lack of votes is not evidence of bad, votes are probably still evidence of good though.Fair enough*
Unfortunately though the reverse is not true. Lack of votes is not evidence of anything. A player could be the best on ground 10 weeks in a row in the eyes of the coach and his teammates, but get zero votes from the forum.
* good games and/or people made extra accounts to vote for him so they could deliberately screw up the system.
Yeah - I’m not trashing the system. Just saying yeah no votes doesn’t mean someone wasn’t good.I agree lack of votes is not evidence of bad, votes are probably still evidence of good though.
Generally speaking those who vote either think the 3-2-1 had the best games, or contributed the most to the win (,or played the best for their role and value) but they say nothing about the other players who they do not give votes for.
I'm not convinced too many people would have been making extra accounts to vote for Moyza haha
So you think Moylan was good every game he didn't get votes in then?Yeah - I’m not trashing the system. Just saying yeah no votes doesn’t mean someone wasn’t good.
