Need to at least try it. If it works then fantastic. If it doesn't at least we know and then need to go to market next season once Moylan ****s off.

he'll have to learn to play 6 because we have the best 7 in the comp
Hynes is more of a 6 then a halfback. He loves to run and play second receiver, kicking game isn’t that consistent for halfback

There is a reason why Cleary and Hynes would’ve worked

If hynes and tricky play together Hynes would be the second receiver most times which is how it should be because that’s where he’s best, leave the boring stuff to someone that can do that well

It’s just a number on the jersey but I feel like he’s more like a Cody Walker/Wighton/Maloney/Munster then a Reynolds/Cleary/DCE etc

It doesn't matter what numbers they have on their backs. You play the style of footy to suit the cattle you have. If Tricky was in you'd probably see us play more like we had two 7's. Maybe controlling a side each

For the record also I think that’s why we struggle and are basically rubbish against top teams

We are playing a guy more suited to 6 as a 7 because we have to accomodate to Moylans inability to do that - Hynes is just a top player it’s looked like it’s worked but when it comes down to the crunch the partnership actually doesn’t

I think Nicho is a league of his own when it comes to what his best position is, and how halves can play in the modern game.

It really doesn’t matter what number you put on his back, he just has the licence to be wherever he wants, when he wants. No one in the competition plays both sides of the field better than him. I think it’s pretty clear how influential his time playing fullback has been, especially in a team like the storm.

I think the best way to continue getting the best out of Nicho is to partner him with a half that is able to take on the general game management duties, or at the very least shoulder half of that burden effectively.

He still would be the chief in the side, be the first port of call when asking for the ball, but he won’t need to be in all places, at all times. And frankly, it doesn’t matter what number he has on his back, or his partner has.

Bit like Thurston, didn't matter if he had 6 or 7 on his back.

Say we had a controlling solid type of 7 and then you have Nicho playing 6.

Maybe Nicho has a bit more energy (he's fit anyway) and plays a bit more consistent hypothetically with less errors or whatever, I reckon with him touching the ball less and having less duties he probably becomes less effective anyway

It's because he's running, scheming, kicking, passing every set is what makes him so dangerous

On the other hand if we were to say that his role and style of play doesn't change then what was the point bringing in a controlling solid type half to partner him

I guess there is 2 schools of thought on it - giving Nicho the opportunity to chose his moments vs. Nicho having as many moments as possible.

And with how much good stuff he creates it's not that straightforward to argue he needs to be doing less although I can understand game management being a potential weak point he has plenty of time to improve that.

I think the whole team could do with a lesson on game management and playing the % at times though but it doesn't seem to be our style. Just going down a gear a bit with the ball when appropriate.

But if it's about just kicking to corners and pinning a team in the 10m off the kick Nicho can already do that.
