I don't know why so many people are iffy on this bloke when he gets a run. Nothing super special but when called upon he understands his job and usually performs it to the best of his abilities. Can't ask much else from him.

It was a cheap shot. Had potential to cause an injury for no purpose at all.
The ball was live in the in-goal and Dykes had no handle on it. Every possibility Naden barges Dykes outta the way of shielding the ball and scores. I'd want my player chasing it hard like that.

But given how things are ruled now I agree that's probably a penalty.

IMO it was worse than Wilton's tackle which was 10 in the bin. Both were "tackled without the ball"

You see this is my problem with the whole thing. Under normal circumstances I would have no problem.

However, the NRL keep harping on about the 'duty of care' that the defender must show towards the person they are tackling.

Look at Teigs tackle. If he failed in his duty of care then surely Naden didn't need to attack the legs of Dykes.

The NRL have really messed things up

oh it's an absolute ****ing shambles mate. I feel sorry for some of the officials, they can't win. The bloke on ground with the whistle no longer controls the game, any big decisions are generally deferred to the bunker and they are hamstrung by ridiculous interpretations that just don't allow any context and understanding of how a game of rugby league happens. Then you've got the MRC on a whole other page suspending guys who weren't even penalised for accidental contact but finding every excuse under the sun to clear NAS of what everybody knew was an attempt to smash a blokes face.

In the past they have often made some clangers but it's usually around one or two rules. This year they have lost the plot on everything.

1000%

You even see the on field ref trying to hide a confused look when “trying” to explain a ruling sometimes but have to show solidarity……..(after being over turned by Video ref)

all the time you see the ref push is earpiece in to listen and you can see his face just fade into confusion. Then he is left to explain something he doesn't understand to the captain's who obviously also don't understand. I wonder why there is confusion...

and sweep over it and brush the captain off by saying, it’s been ruled on and I’ve explained it already (when neither the ref or captain understood the explanation).

Yeah its seeing a middle manager get bullshit directives from his boss & try sell that bullshit he doesn't understand himself to the lot he's trying to manage.

We need it to really blow up. Blast a hole in a structural wall that can't be papered over and demands a knockdown rebuild of the lot.

I agree with this mate but I thought the Cowboys v Tigers debacle was going to do that. That was a blunder of mammoth proportions yet the culprits still remain in their jobs and the system continues as is.

I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago but it’ seems that this is the only area V’Landys doesn’t seem to be able to fix. You’d think he would be able to see the issues and put better people in charge. But the debacle continues. You can only conclude that he’s happy with the system.

The Tigers aren’t a big enough fish.
They need it to happen to Roosters, Brisbane, Melbourne or currently Penrith for it to be in the NRL’s headlights

Yes that’s correct but the problem at the moment is that the NRL just doesn’t let it happen to those clubs.
