I'd like to give this bloke a chance, he'll probably start with the Jets but we can't judge him after a few games. He might turn out to be a decent signing, who knows. He did play league when he was younger. How many NRL players go over to union & turn out to be decent, no reason union players can't do the opposite.

He could be the next Ricky Stuart, Ray Price, Michael O’Connor or Tiaan Strauss.

I remember watching 9 of them. Too young to have seen quite a few of the rest, but I remember Monie as a coach and Kneen from a Sharkies-fan mate a bit older who talks about him a lot.

I don't remember Howland being "big and fast". I remember him as skinny. I could be thinking of someone else.

Yep, didn't they call Howland 'the whippet'?

If he was a big whippet he would have been a greyhound.

Steve Kneen is my favourite of those on the list & one of my all time Sharks favourites . Deservedly on the bench in Sharks team of the half century . As tough as they come & hard running , maybe think in terms of a Sam Burgess style .

Graham Bowen was a good solid front rower & nice fella but not in the same class as Jason Stevens who I watched in a Sharks v Manly replay a couple of nights back .

I recall Vince Farrer as being an English front row import who even looked slow in slow motion replays .

The whippit was my fave player for a few years as a kid. He was tiny, but super fast and elusive. Filled in for peach at fullback a few times and played great as well. I remember him having blinders against brisbane, either tuqiri or sailor, hed just rush em and chop em. They were the premier wingers in the game at the time but were useless against howland and rogers

Kneen seems out of place in that list isn’t he?

Hayseed will never be forgotten. One of the toughest men to ever pull on the black white and blue.

Would punch Gal's lights out inside 1 round. Was a real fighter.
