honestly think this bloke will come out and shock a few of us within the next couple of years.

There’s no way to know. I just disagree with the statement that “this player is X and that is all he will ever be”. Not everyone is Boyd Cordner. Plenty of players take some time to become solid NRLers.

williams > uele

This is fair. They are both good. Uele and Williams should develop into consistent above average first graders . Sorenson and Capewell are both adequate, but are the reliable types you call on when you have an injury or two and fight for the last spot or two on the bench.

Without starting a **** fight , what makes people think Uele will develop into an above average NRL player? Is there anything you can point to at this stage ? I was at the Raiders game, then specifically watched the replay later to get a gauge on Uele because live at the game I didn’t really notice him . After watching the replay I’m not yet convinced . Had maybe 2 ok runs but seemed a bit lazy in defence ( positinally ) . Sure , I guess he does have potential , just like any other young guy starting out, I just can’t see anything that sets him apart from all the other Hopefuls...at this stage.

More than happy to be corrected if anyone can show me anything tangible other than his sheer size.

Edit.... just read the “Braiden Uele “ topic . Maybe this post belongs there but CBF moving it . Read your opinions there- I’m hopefull, but not convinced...if he can’t learn from Fifita than there is no hope for him.

The fact he’s got that size and strength at age 19 is more than enough to work with for mine

Thats fair I suppose. What is his strength like? Anyone know how he goes in the gym? Who remembers Jacob Selmes? Looked a bit soft but went ok for a bit- I thought he would harden up and really kick on. Whatever did happen to him ?

In your head, rent free
his lateral movement is really good, his tackling was top notch and he took some nice hit ups

that is game 2 and you would be lucky if he has played 60 minutes of football

at his age, he is a prospect and a very good one at that

Are we talking about Uele here? He's 23.

Not sure if he is expected to be "above average" at the NRL level but he was probably one of the 2 or 3 best props under 25 in the Q Cup last year. The Cowboys have great depth there so could afford to let Uele move on.

Yeah - I think the pre-season injury has hampered his fitness a little, but he is actually quite quick for a prop.

He needs to put that late right foot step back in his kit bag and run straight a bit I think. A few times today I believe he would have made more meters taking the first contact rather than jinking back into towards the middles. Late footwork from a big guy is brilliant but it needs to be selective and come as a bit of a surprise. He has the speed and bulk to make a dent running a good straight line.

Can't really fault him otherwise. Not sure why but his effort to make a tackle and get back the 10 quickly to go again stood out today. I can see why we persist with him.

Ran half way across the field a few times to make sure he ran at those markers! Gotta follow that Flanno gameplan, speaking of which he's playing a bit like a bloke trying to stay on coaches good side to wrap up a spot. Effort is there in defense, not many errors or penalties in his game atm. Trys to do something with his runs but isn't happening, just solid not giving us any line running options like Lewy or Boogs do

Yep if he gets the ball he's good for a carry and making the meters between him and the defensive line. He doesn't look like even the slightest chance of breaking the line, offloading or even getting a quick PTB since he seems to step into the meat of the D. Needs to target and go at a certain bloke a bit better.

However he is trying hard. Too hard probably. I think he and the team would benefit from some straight hard runs with quick PTB. He is pretty quick across the ground and in getting to his feet.

He gets too much slack, he does good. Does a lot of stuff that won't get noticed, like taking the early hitups on our line like an outside back, one on one tackles on the line, drove Martin 10 meters back on the Bulldogs 5th tackle early in the game to have kept the Bulldogs in their end (Dugan dropped the kick the next play to **** that up).

The coaches will notice that **** though, so I won't be surprised if he still gets a bench spot once everyone is back. Probably not though, I imagine Paulo and Seumanufagai are ahead.
