Thanks mate. If his defence can improve over the next 6 weeks I’d be looking to give this guy the 14 jersey for a few weeks.
It will take longer than 6 weeks unfortunately.

Not much point having a utility on the bench given what we've seen from Fitz so far.

If Iro were to jump all of Ikavalu (when fit), Tracey & Hiroti and walk straight into a centre spot then I ask what is the point of our depth and having all these other backup players/squad fillers that have actual experience and are handy on their day if you don't actually use them when it's appropriate?

Sometimes the pecking order is in place for good reason

I like Iro, his time will come but I would honestly give any of the above 3 a crack before him as it stands - Tracey and Hiroti are not perfect by any means but there is less for them to learn on the go than the bloke with what 1 first grade game? Might be different if he was noted for his defense but that tends to come with age and experience like alot of centres.

Ikavalu is a solid ideal option who can easily interchange with winger (same as Tracey & Hiroti) if required but not sure when he will be fit

Need someone like a Jack Reed type centre. Just a defensive machine who can run a decent line, draw and pass and do the tough carry’s.

The bold Talakai is great at
Just needs a marginal improvement in defence and he is exactly what you're asking for, isn't he?

And that improvement in his defence perhaps comes from him but could also be possible if Wilton can get on top of things and take a bit of pressure off Moylan/Trindall.

Personally I don’t think Talakai has ever been a good defender. He’s spent a whole pre season at centre as well as 3/4 of last season there and has not improved at all in that area. Basically 12 months there and no improvement. Not good enough

Wilton is in the same boat. Misses far too many tackles. Is this because of his minutes perhaps? Do we need to give this bloke a spell instead of expecting him to play 80 every week. I think yes, we do.

He's kind of where Nikora was a couple of years ago.

I wanted Nikora gone last year.

Given that lesson I"m prepared to be patient with Teig. He's got it.

Agreed. But the problem lies in the question - Can we win a comp if that left edge tightens up in defence?

I guess it depends how that is achieved. Could we win a comp with Wade/Talakai there instead of Teig? Would replacing him with Wade/Talakai fix all the defensive issues this side has? Probably not IMO. But if we can't get it sorted, you may as well blood Tricky and Iro on the edge anyway and build towards a run in a few years.

Was on the same boat. I wanted him gone until roughly around 13. Then he started to come good and now he’s the first forward I’d pick every week for us.

Our problems aren't with Teig or Nikora. Yes Teig has some improvement to do but our middle and Moylan and to some extent Talaki are much bigger concerns.

I still have high hopes. He's such a damaging ball runner. Surely he can work out his defence.
