Its official, the North Shore sux, it took us 2 1/2 hours to get thru the traffic on Saturday to get up to Woy Woy for the Sharks 1st game of the season and then the weather turned it on in some of the worst playing conditions this author has ever seen, but the game must go on.

First up was the u16 Harold Matthews Cup game against the Central Coast Centurions which was a shocker. A completion rate of 45% didnt help their cause either, not sure what the game plan was, but nothing was happening, Jayden Walker was one of the best on ground.

The SG Ball team look good this year and will go well if they can concentrate for the full 70 mins.
The Central Coast started the game with some reallly good footy to lead 10 - 0 after a few minutes, then the Sharkies started to work and were too fast and too good for the locals. Big Anthony Moraitas was on the end of a good pass that put the Sharks on the board, Super boot Taylar Garrett had no trouble converting from the side line for the 1st of his 5 goals for the day. Patrice Siolo and Brock Cope scored to give the visitors a 10 - 18 lead at the break.
The second half the Sharks got stronger to pile on the points and then they lost the plot letting the Centurions in for 3 easy trys to bring the game back to a try difference, coach Dave Howlett was spewing for the hill, Jason Gray scored with minutes to go to seal the 2 points for the Shire Boyz, training this week will not be a place i'd like to be.
anyway, thats about it, check out some of the action if u want

Rnd 3 WRAP
This week saw the u16 Sharks grab their first 2 points of the season thanks to the bye, the boyz have been training hard and we want to see some of that good work transfered onto the playing paddock in Rnd 4 at home against an inproving SWSAS side

The SG Ball made the longest trip in rugby league to play the WA Reds over in Perth, as we all know, Sharks dont travel too good out of the water and were lucky to come away with a 14 all draw. But the still undefeated Sharks u18's will be ready this saturday when we take on the Melbourne Storm at Shark Park.

The SG Ball team is a very solid side, with talent and speed to burn, we look forward to continued improvement as we race to the finals, could this be the year of the Sharks? Lets hope so

Thanks our_footy. Why do our Ball teams seem to outperform the Matts? Or is that just in recent years?

we start recruiting more players for ball rather than matty's, maybe that has something to do with it.

I know last years SG team is the strongest age group by a mile. This years is ok. I thought this seasons matty's would be strong but haven't shown anything.

Part of what josh say s is tru, the Sharks do recruit boyz to play in the sg ball more than the matts, most likely due to age diff, paernts, location, school commitments and stuff

Part of the prob is incompetence , infighting and simply they havent got a clue at the cronulla junior league, so basically the local young kids are against the wall from the start

This year the SG Ball are again coached by Dave Howlett, Howlett is the head coach at Endeavour Sports High School and has many years experience coaching elite level players, Dave has definite game plans and the team trains to play this way

The SG Ball players have a couple more years on the Matts boyz, as we all know, the Cronulla Junior league is a small comp, so we only have a finate amount of players to choose from before other players are looked at from the outside

comments and feed back would be most welcome

up up cronulla :)
