That's been my thought all along. Forget about whether you feel Morris should have had his contract extended (that's another debate) - how else could the club have handled this?

This was no doubt leaked by unknown parties which was a massive blow to the Sharks. Fitzgibbon hadn't even signed when the articles came out.

In a perfect world the Sharks would have done the deal then - before it got out to the media sit down with John and explain what has occurred and what the next steps were.

Even when they sat down with John on the Monday they hadn't received the signed contract. What else could they say at this meeting but nothing is finalised and he still in the running.

As soon as someone leaked this to the media the Sharks were on a hiding to nothing.

I personally have mixed emotions re whether Morris should have been re signed but don't think this could have been handled any differently once the leak occurred.

Hooper and Co are close to the Roosters and would know the Chaos it would create for the Sharks
Wouldn't at all be surprised if the potential deal was exposed prematurely maliciously

Hooper is a tigers supporter. I don't think he has any direct link to roosters, he is just a hack reporter and likes being a messy bitch.

Take your sharks hat off, its a juicy story...

Mate , you don't think there's a possibility that Powerful Clubs/ people would not give kick backs to Journos to write articles to suit there own agendas .
Josh Morris / Roosters seemed to have Hooper bleating for a release from Sharks

****ing Greenberg. I always had the feeling that he was after us. Good riddance.

I was there when we won the grand final that night and he was walking around the ground by his self a little after it - you could tell he was filthy, his face said it all

Yeah Hooper definitely kisses ass pushes certain clubs agendas and gets given stories.

On the other hand - Dino is a FKN gangster I love it

Hmmm maybe. I also think that the Roosters are kinda like the hot chick at school - reporters like Hooper want to be liked by the hot chick at school so tend to lean towards their agenda.

Thanks for the article, Egg.

I've calmed down a bit over the past day or two and am comfortable with the direction the club is taking. Reading Dino's comments just reinforces that.

Loved his line about making up the $9m figure in his meeting with Greenturd.

Same Same , feel a little bit better having read that .
I suppose its similar to not extending Kennedy and paying for Suali ( acclaimed up and comer )
You might gamble there is more upside , even though the incumbents are still hitting 4's ( potentially 6's )

Never thought I’d be doing this’: Morris pays tribute to Sharks with emotional ‘goodbye’

NRL PREMIERSHIP

Former Cronulla Sharks coach John Morris has wrote a heartfelt farewell to the club on Instagram, revealing the greatest highlight of his time at the helm.

Morris coached his last game for the Sharks in a 26-18 loss to the Roosters before exiting after it was confirmed he would be replaced by Craig Fitzgibbon at the end of the season.

The Sharks coach had taken the team to two-straight finals appearances and handed 11 players their NRL debuts - something he is extremely proud of on reflection.

“I never thought I would be doing a post like this... but the time has come to say goodbye,” he wrote on Instagram.

“The past 11 yrs as a player & coach of this great club has been nothing short of a dream. Black, white & blue is a part of me and it has been an absolute honour to represent this club.

“I can not thank the Sharks members, fans & the entire rugby league community for the overwhelming support I have received, particularly over the past few days.

“To my wife Michelle, 3 beautiful kids & all my family who ride the highs & lows more than anyone, I could not be the person or coach I am without your support. Thank you so much & I love you all dearly.

“To all my players, it was a privilege to work with you & be a part of your lives. You can all be proud of your efforts & resilience shown to perform under some pretty tough circumstances. I have no doubt you will go on to have more success in 2021 & beyond.

“Playing in 2 finals series & handing out 11 NRL debuts, was a highlight that I will forever be grateful for being a part of.

“To my amazing coaching & football staff, your hard work, commitment, passion & care for the players was second to none. Thank you for your unwavering support. The club is in great hands with quality people like yourselves involved.

“Finally, I would like to wish the boys and football staff all the best for the rest of the year. I know they will continue to do the club proud.

“I obviously have a passion & desire to continue coaching, but will now look forward to spending some time with my family, before the next chapter begins.

“Cheers Bomber.”
