The onus is on the defender to not hit a guy in the head. Sometimes there are mitigating circumstances (e.g. player falling to ground gets hit high), but I don't have a problem with the NRL saying we're going to protect the head.

Jesse got it wrong and not for the first time this year.
100%

He had ample time and opportunity. I rather he hit him with a basic average tackle then trying to come up with a big hit and knock on which then on replay turns into a penalty against us and him being out of the team for 3 weeks.

When does the Penny drop

Contract negotiations next year - he gas to get offered coin based on the fact that he is a bit of a liability

He has prior’s he will be watching for a while… looked like exactly the type of tackle nrl are cracking down on. At the time I was clapping then reverse angle replay though he would be lucky to stay on the field.
He's f*cked

In 2-3 years, Ramien will switch to the 2nd row and become a better player than he ever was as a centre. Which will make him an exceptional 2nd rower.

Just popped into my head while running. Have at it.

If he retains his speed there is really no reason to move him to back row and if he doesn't then he could move to backrow but would not be 'better'. I could see him moving in his last few seasons once he loses a step of pace, probably not the next 2-3.

I think the only thing that would cause him to shift in next 2 years would be if we were light on the edges but desperately wanted to open up a centre spot for someone.

Maybe. Not sure I will pay him what he is on now to play 2nd row when you could get a fairly decent one for 500k a year already.

Would not? That's a pretty definitive prediction mate

Too many people to run into at second row it’d be like bumper cars for him

I think he'd actually enjoy that a lot. Jesse loves unneccesary contact. He'd probably make more line breaks if he didn't go looking for guys to run over!

Nikora by the sound of things!

I think if he moved because he lost speed he wouldn't be better, yeah.
Could he be? Yeah. But I don't think so, so I've just said what I think.

If something happened like an Iro was just too good to leave out of side and we'd not retained Nikora or got an equivalent or better edge in which forced him to move he could develop to be a good edge, perhaps better than he is a centre.
But if it's a late career extending move I think he won't be better, and I think that is more likely scenario.

That's a great advertisement for why you shouldn't be running!

big strong blokes in the centres is working for us

how fast or not Ramien is hasn't been his asset or his drawback so I dont think we need to shift him if he simply gets a bit slower

depends what happens with Nikoras contact too though

He has been as fast as he has been, whilst not known for his speed if he was substantially slower he would have been worse.

Not his asset or his drawback yet if he got faster or slower it would impact his game.
