Official Jesse Colquhoun

He’s staying with us.
3 year deal!

Loyalty wins after all.

Turns out what i was reading on the other forums & sites was incorrect.
This is wonderful news mate, thank you for letting us know.

Hopefully we will get the official announcement through soon. :)

Will be happy to see him re-sign. I like what he brings, still relatively raw ij first grade so hes only going to get better.

At this stage of his career, i also dont see Mcinnes jumping ship and moving too far away. Would love to keep him around on reduced $ and minutes. A bench of him, talakai, hazo and someone else (rudolf start) would be pretty strong.

Suggests offers of +250k per season were most likely wrong because he really should take that haha
Glad that if we were a bit closer he took the loyalty option though!

Maybe it was +250k total extra or something.... or that number is a complete fabrication!

The highest offer on the table for him was 600k per season on a 3 year deal.

He’s signed for us at 400k per season.

Turned down 750k to stay loyal to us. Fitz believes though he will be able to make some of that money back by turning him into a rep player within 2 years.

Based on that my number guesses of 350k and 600k were pretty close haha
750k still a long way short of the 1.35m difference it looked like yesterday based on also an extra year
But it is still a big hit to take so good on him sticking with us - says great things about the team and culture.

Does suggest Cam next to no hope of extended on anything more than 'hey if you wanna stick around' vet deal

I'd love to see Cam move into a coaching role.

Does he have footy smarts? Serious question, never really says much that impresses me from a footy knowledge perspective. He's an absolute warrior for sure

I don’t about the technical side of the game, but I can’t think of many players who’d have a better knowhow about how to look after themselves fitness wise, how to get the absolute most out of your body and the one percenters side of the game.

tbf most of the time you hear from him he's just finished a game where he scored as one of the top few hardest working players on the field, and even though he is in media as our captain, he is not our captain because of the insight he will offer the media.
I don't think there is necessarily an indicator there

very broad range of roles too, such as

- middle coach: may not be the biggest middle but he would know the job inside out

- strength and conditioning coach: his S&C is second to none, but does he know how to relay to others and different body types?

- lower grade assistant and head coach: pretty much any nrl player has the technical knowledge for this, just can they relay it appropriately. If not quite, assistant could still an option.

- trainer: need to be able to relay messages from coach to players on field, that's easy enough, but also need to be able to actively coach live on field. Think NRL is trying to wind this back though. best recent example is panthers trainer visibly coaching the whole set leading to Panthers game levelling 2-point field goal in round 22 vs Titans. Cam probably has close to if not enough knowledge but getting it right, live, under pressure, is another question.

- full assistant coach: need to be able to plan out (with head coach) desired systems, players and teach suitable technique, as well as adapting these where suitable to match ups. have to be passionate about it, as it's a lot of film, plus actually do need to have an above average understanding (even for an NRL player) of structures and systems. Probably not a role he'd get straight away anywhere.

obviously he's not going to be an NRL head coach any time soon - but if he was keen there'd be something above he could do, surely.
