That’s why I was wondering if he actually did anything particularly good, or was just part of a team than ran over the top of reserve graders

I watched a fair bit of the game and he looked quick and pretty sharp. Service was just okay but was making the right decisions. If it continues he'll be a solid starter.

knights have had spud hookers for a while now though so the base of comparison isn't that high. Danny Buderus was like 80 years old the last stint he had with them

Played 50 odd mins, scored a try, nearly scored another. Supported well, gave pretty crisp service. About what ya'd expect from an above average NRL game from him. Keep in mind there wasn't a single "first grader" past or present for Chooks - Drew Hutchison and Ikavalu probably their most experienced.
