Yeah I don't know him. But they had a strong team all year. We beat them in the finals, but it was when all their players got shifted up a grade.

Hopefully Fitz has some additional inside knowledge from the Illawarra.

Highlights reel impressive above.
 
Also played 13 NSW Cup games last year, again in a very strong team. And scored against the Jets in the finals.

Yeah - was good in the game.

Raiders sent almost their entire NSW Cup team up to NRL so in turn the team who the Jets played in the finals was mostly Flegg.
 
Should also add here that in the Raiders system Lavender was a Flegg regular at 19 and debuted in Cup the same year. He was also playing opens for Dapto Canaries at 18.

In terms of progression through grades that is faster than any current Sharks prospect other than Ison, Hassett and Gabrael, and on par with Dellow.

Looks like a bit of a coup for the Jets to have gotten him on board. I'd day pencil him in as the starting left second rower. Hassett on the right.

Ben Lavender played in the system a few years back. I think he left and went to the Dragons.

Could be related. Was also from the Illawarra region if I remember correctly.

I was thoroughly impressed by his work rate. Looking forward to seeing him kick on for the Jets. Between him and Hassett we hopefully won't have too much trouble replacing Burns if he gets a bigger and better deal elsewhere.
 
he was one of my standouts in the first trial. quick for a big lad and agressive both sides of the ruck. is he actually contracted to the sharks or just jets?
