He needed to not be such a bitch about his contract and maybe we would have.

If he’s put the effort in to show he deserves an upgrade instead of the garbage form he gave us he might have even got an upgrade
Although maybe not until partway through next season and obviously wasn’t willing to wait

Chad Townsend earning more money than him would have been tough to stomach but he went the wrong way about handling something that was mostly down to contract timings

Jimmy was incredible in 2016 though which made 2017 so disappointing

This is just my personal opinion but I still think he was probably more interested in the likes of Ben Hunt getting 1.2 million than his teammate Chad being on like 100-200k more than him.
Many of the below getting some pretty big contracts probably also a factor, and most of them (probably all of them) got more than Townsend.
Milford
Wighton
Foran
Taylor
DWalker
Blake Green
Johnson
Cronk
Mbye
JRey

I think with the amount of halves getting big pay days at that time Chad being on slightly more than him would have been a very minimal part of the issue.
Although I know others on here disagree.

Your employer giving someone in a role extremely similar to yours who you know is nowhere near your level of skill ability 200k more then you are on would piss anyone off

And industry rivals giving similar quality players 400-800k more than you likely does even more

agree bort, Chads pay bump coincided with the push for bigger play maker salaries at the time and Momoneyloney didn't get his slice as was already under contract

Jimmy was on around $500k and Chads new deal took him to around the $600k mark but players like Hunt ect are the ones that really cleaned up at the time

maybe we could have given jimmy more money (more than Chad anyway) if he bothered to see out his contract and still have a go like a decent non sooking player in 2017. Maybe he would have got that $800kish money we paid Mozza but he could have stayed at our club and pushed for another Premiership

Maybe Jimmy shouldn't have signed a three year contract given he knew the new TV rights deal was around the corner.

He can get ****ed.

I just can't see how he looks at Ben Hunts 1.2million and Chad's 600k and only thinks 'but I'm better than Chad', guess I will have to agree to disagree with those in camp Wizard

If you work at Woolies on $20 and hour and your colleague signs a new contract for $24 it wouldn't sit very well.
But if everywhere in the news Coles and Aldi are paying people with similar skill to you $30-45 you're not gunna be asking for a shift up to $24 because checkout Chad gets $24, or asking for $26 or $28 because you think you are better than checkout Chad, you're gunna say I want $40 because that's what Aldi or Coles will give me. Checkout Chad and his $24 can get ****ed, you're aiming way higher than that (and then you get fired and get a new job at Coles for $32 and you still think you should be on more and don't give a **** about checkout Chads $24).

I clearly have no idea how supermarkets pay or contract their staff, but you get the idea

Coles is a terrible example they have award rates where everyone performing the same task gets the same rate. by that logic every half back would get the same money.

I was gunna say Maccas/KFC etc but didn't think their structure was going to be anymore relevant, just wanted to put it in more simple numbers and an industry with comparable rival organisations I could name easily.

But for Coles and all business mentioned I imagine younger (non adult) people get less (or at least for casual workers).
I actually did work at a Woolies as a late teen and remember it was always the real young kids that got public holiday shifts because their cheaper pay at double time was much more affordable.
But most public holidays I had drinking to do so I didn't mind.

You don’t know what ticked him off more, seeing how sht Chad is and getting more money then him from his same employer or other playmakers at different clubs.

Unless you are James Maloney , you have no idea - neither do I. Would be a good halves coach once he’s done playing

I mean I did open my earlier comment with “This is just my personal opinion”….

I assume he is not nearly as obsessed over Chad as you are but that could be wrong.
