The replica of HMS Endeavour returned to Sydney in April, 2005, almost 235 years after Cook arrived in Botany Bay on April 28, 1770.

The plan was to sail the replica back through Sydney Harbour on Sunday 17 April 2005, but the Endeavour ran aground on a sandbar in Botany Bay, and the big welcome was cancelled.
