You've been compromised living in Melbourne. Closet storm supporter ewww
Ha ha. I've hated them since I can remember. Always cop it as an outsider in the cauldron at live games. Their supporters come across as uneducated in the rules of the game, booing at odd times etc. But they have had Hynes and Finucane lately, and no Cam Smith, so haven't minded them too much. The Clearies are my new Cam Smith.

That's the problem when you pretty much win every game comfortably during the season, doesn't put you in good stead at the business end when things get tight.

I 100% agree with this.

Cam Smith, Slater. Could not stand them.
Now they’re gone. Don’t mind Melbourne.

The Cleary’s on the other hand.
They‘re wankers.
Daddy coach is Ricky Stuart level wanker if not higher.
Jr has a Cherry-Evans appeal.

Anyone give Souths a chance?

Yeah

but teams have a habit of winning their follow up GF after losing the year before but Panthers winning it will just end me.
panthers gunna have tears in their eyes post game either way I just hope it's the saddsies ones.

less a problem for the professional outfit used to getting the job done in finals that is the storm. they just put in one of those rare shocking storm performances. you might see 1 or 2 a year where their ball control is poor and unfortunately they even rarer put up that display in a prelim. they were terrible by their standards other than their defense which was fantastic generally speaking but panthers was even better.

their attack was very clunky and disjointed , munster was hopeless, grant not good either. but losing cheese and welch might have been the difference, they just couldn't compensate for that but usually they would.

even so they were in the game

In the NRL.com player ratings for this game they say that Scott Sorensen didn't make the Shsrk's 2016 GF side. Ummm...that was because he was playing for another club.

playing for another club in reggies that is. even if he was with us in 2016 he wouldn't have made that GF squad and would have been depth. we won that game anyway so not sure if NRL.com is trying to make a point.

it wasn't until Scott moved to the Panthers that he really started to make a first grade profile for himself and become better known and even so I don't think he has been a regular week to week selection at the panthers though I may be wrong. Prob the only thing I don't hate about that Panthers team is Sorro, I am happy he is going well.

Capewell was in our 2016 squad and also didn't play in the GF. in hindsight would have been a better choice than Beale who was an opposition Trojan horse during our finals campaign haha

Munster has been a myth all year. All the so-called experts saying this is his time of the year, he loves the big games, watch him step it up.

Yeah nah.

Obviously thinking of Capewell re the finals stuff.

Is Soro really playing so much better for Panthers? Or just the same reliable depth option he was with us, only people noticing him now because it’s Panthers?

Who bumped Sorensen out of squad? Pele?
In the end our final 30 man only had 27 so could have kept him if we’d wanted.

Yeah nah.

Has had some poor showings in some big games over the years but his 9 not doing a great job (grant) didn't help. Hughes was a threat though and they looked better while Cheese was on the field

No I don't think he is going that much better at the panthers but being at a top team he is being noticed and talked about more. If anything his final season with us in 2020 was his best season IMO he was strong and consistent for us that year and stepped up his effort big time and cut down on mistakes and I think he has generally carried that attitude over to the panthers.

I didn't agree with releasing him really, he was going to be cheap as and wanted to keep playing for the Sharks and he had just had a good season with us so there was upside. We signed another cheapie in Tolman anyway to tighten up the middle but Tolman near end of career and is really only a middle. Sorro bit more versatile, stronger, faster and younger with potential further improvement in him.

He should have been our Jason Bakuya replacement - A mobile middle/edge forward that you can name each week without hassle or keep in the wings as depth.

You’re right we also brought in Tolman, I’ve already forgotten him it seems haha

Agree on both.
Re Capes, I was calling on his resigning in here as others were happy to see him go.
Sorro, I thought we would retain also as he show good consistency when he got a run.

I wonder what Fitz thoughts are on these 2 and if he would have retained one if not both of these guys (Say over Nikora)?

Capewell very different to Soro.
Capes wanted to try get a start somewhere and we had Graham (playing well) and Lewis.
Capes still was showing good signs but still needed to fix a few areas up so would have been hard to pay him enough to not chase the start opportunity.
Soro more attachment to club than Capes too

I like Tolman - I do. I advocated for his signing

But he is too slow now to do anything but tackle players than run in his general vicinity. He can do that all day every week but that's about it as far as impact on the game is concerned. He's a good sensible old head to have around the club as well on and off the field.

For what it's worth I hope we give him another bargain basement 12 month contract even just for depth

Sorro's a real effort player who was always fairly reliable. Blokes like that do tend to shine when the rest of the team is doing a good job. I always liked him, but you can't keep them all I guess. He suffered from being pretty similar to quite a few of our other forwards at the time of I remember correctly

Grand Final starts at 6:30 pm local time.
Daylight savings kicks in but not for WA 😒

Just checking that QLD no longer partakes in Daylight savings?
