Game on NOW Thread

That is absolutely laughable! I picked Roosters (good) why did Roosters get disallowed that try, however still given a penalty! Where Im watching is with mates & volumes off, no wonder the refereeing & Bunker are disliked now!

Ref said "if the try is disallowed for obstruction, I have a penalty for Jordan Riki offside."
Makes me wonder why he allowed the try in the first place.

Yeah but they still could’ve come back from that. Game was done when Staggs got binned

Staggs' sin bin was the final nail in the coffin, but it doesn't happen if Carrigan doesn't drop the ball. It gave the Roosters some control and they got if I remember correctly a 6-again, a penalty in the lead-up to Staggs' penalty.
They were going nowhere before that.

And it wasn't on the last tackle, in prime position. Carrigan opted for a all-or-nothing play and came up empty. It single-handedly cut all momentum the Broncos had.

Yeah both were bad but one was deliberately stupid (with nothing to gain), the other was trying to come up with a play (albeit the wrong call). Which is more what I was getting at

Stagg's penalty was definitely stupid. No doubt about that.
Always interesting to see how a chain of events can lead to several interpretations/explanations.

Needed more context. I was referring to the tackle put on report.

Edit: But I get your point. Radley tackled like vintage Dylan Napa.

I was only noting the two
that lindsey collins - Jake Head clash - they both went for HIA
and yes the Radley one - clear as day, head makes contact with head - he launched in true vintage Radley style. nothing. this guy does it multiple times every game - notorious

doctors didnt intervene on Carrigan (unless i missed carrigan going off)
if they're big on all their safety and all. NRL changes from game to game, a different set of rules and control game to game and team focus

unless i didnt for a millisecond see the 'on report' thing go up on screen in those two head clashes. if they did, the precedent is Ten in the bin and which player did the intentional high contact to the head?

The whole head clash thing is a rort ever since the Finucane-McInnes ones- other games this season, there have been head clashes - nothing. There was one game I recollect where a player was sent off for ten minutes in recent weeks.

yet today we will see another heavy, lopsided penalty count against the Sharks and will just be told that we have poor discipline and are error-ridden

This again baffles me mate as to why you continue to watch NRL if you think it’s a rort and changes from game to game.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, there are definitely inconsistencies but a lot of different sports also have baffling decisions by officials, it’s not just NRL. 😊

I've grown accustomed to the fact that within a single season things are reffed in different ways, let alone season to season.
Unfortunately (or not), the Finucane/McInnis precedents have no bearing on today's NRL. Definitely unfair, but I don't even think we need to keep the receipts or anything.

We're back to the old consistency trope. And we know that there's none of it in the NRL or any other sport. We have to thank human nature and all that.... We may not want to accept this, but we all know it.
I raise an eyebrow or outright throw my arms up in the air, Moses-style, at the very least a half dozen times per game. Sometimes it serves us, sometimes it doesn't (consistency that is, not the eyebrow raising stuff).

My problem now is how these decisions impact on the game. It's even more pregnant in momentum-filled PVL ball than it ever was.
In yesterday's blockbuster game (Matt Nable TM) for example, Roosters got all the calls in the first half and scored at will. Second half and all of a sudden, Roosters couldn't get a break. Broncos scored at will until Carrigan's drop ball. Kill-switch moment right then and there. The Roosters got a few calls go their way again and scored to put the game beyond reach. Game, set and match.

The cynic in me would say: "good job Ref, game well managed". I'm not even sure it's true anymore. It's just the nature of the current beast.
