Val has more speed and better acceleration off the mark over Bird. We've also never seen Bird under the bomb.

I think it is a no contest.

ive put Bird, because.....

a. Val is returning from a hammy strain/tear. Not sure how fit he is, how much running he has done. Maybe the wing is his best option to gain the match fitness without having to run a mile.

b. Bird wasnt fully tested at FB under high balls or with any attacking kicks etc put at him. Hard to tell how good he is there when our forwards out enthused the Raiders and they didnt get much chance to test him.

However, im not phased. 1.Val, 3. Bird, 5. Lee

As long as Val is ready to go he gets the nod.

Bird played well but wasn't tested very much with kicks.

If Val isn't 100% I'm happy to give Bird another run.

Unleash "the val"... Want to put another 40 on the dragons. Let's smash them through the middle then put some trick shots on them.

Should be val, he's our long and short term fullback indicated by the contract. Knowing how flanno operates though he'll be on the wing post injury, bird too good to move and a situation will arise where bird will get fb money elsewhere and we're left going into next season with val still having no fullback experience in fg.

I just want bird there cos i think he went alright on sat, and i dont want him to start saying he never got a chance. If he fails, then he never goes back there

That is a good point. Might be the right way to go for a week or two.

The great thing about Val is that even playing him on the wing he will still carve - he get so much more involved around the ruck than he was in 2015

I missed the game and haven't watched the replay yet. How did Edrick Lee go against the Raiders? If we think Lee is the man for that job then the setup should be 1. Val 2. Lee 3. Bird.

Bird for me.

Only reason being that Val is coming back from a hamstring injury and would rather lighten the chance of further injury!

But personally if both 100% fit, Val to fullback.

Did ok IMO, better than last week and his runs out of our end are handy, he's a strong bloke afterall

Blamed for letting in a try out wide but IMO Capewell was more responsible mis-reading the ball out the back and then missing his tackle, Eddy could have maybe pushed up and in more but in the moment he was trusting his inside man and marking his winger

The coaching staff aren't going not risk him at wing or FB imo, if he's fit he's playing FB.
