Like most I’m keen on seeing big Franky get a run in firsts in the near future. I’m just wondering who’s spot he’d be taking though. 2022 would be more likely if Woods and Fifs depart, that’s only if you want to run with two props plus Tolman on your bench for a rotation of Toby, BHU, Hunt and Pele with Tolman or Williams coming in at lock whenever Cam or Blayke get a rest. Unless injuries happen I’m finding it hard seeing how he forces his way into the team this year at full strength.

It’s a nice problem to have though as we look stacked with good front rowers into the future.

There is never a season without injuries. I am sure he will get a call up at some point.

In saying that I would happily let woods go if we could sign McInnis for this year

Yep, will definitely be injuries so he'll get a run.

Maybe he gets a go when Woods is playing Origin.

Feed Woods to Pele & pretend like nothing happened. Problem solved.

I'm yet to be convinced by Franklin. Yes he is young and a big strong unit but the way the game has changed, it's not friendly to the big fellas.

I'm concerned at how he'll handle the speed of an NRL game.

Any thoughts of signing him to a 3 year extension is laughable.

Let's see how he goes in the top grade first - if he is selected of course!

Thanks to the game speeding up but interchange not further reducing with Brailey, McInnes and both our edges expecting to play 80 more often than not we could easily run Pele out for a 15-20 minute stint of pure force.
Skipping three gym sessions a week for extra cardio can only help his cause too, especially if that is not because he needs the weight loss but because he is already too buff for the extra gym work!

Obviously we haven't seen him do anything in the NRL yet but certainly an exciting prospect.

Already question marks over Talakai and Hunt for season start, although both likely to be back sooner rather than later and both targeting being available for round 1, some opportunities will eventually present themselves.
Fifita is contracted for 2022 so won't necessarily depart although likely one or perhaps both of Woods and Tolman do. Fifi seems pretty committed to see it out at this stage.
On Fifi though played 12/21 possible games last season (not selected for one) so probably more likely than not he misses some games this year. Played 21/25 year before which is pretty solid but was also still starting then.

We are pretty deep in middles at the moment though (especially if McInnes did come) so Pele's doing very well to force his way into the team at full strength. If all our middles stay healthy majority of the year will a lot of tough selections for Bomber.
If Hunt and Talakai are both fit for week 1 that's Woods, BHU, Rudolf starting (for example) and Fifita, Tolman, Hunt, Talakai, Williams fighting for 3-4 bench spots! And if you get dropped it could be very hard to get back up.
Pele likely would get a rotation run later in year if he's going well.

We'll see ,
Taumalolo 2.0 mark my words
He's faster than our hooker , young AND mobile .
As I said , just got to be defensively sound and he'll be fantastic .
But granted , unproven in top grade as of yet .
IF he gets snavelled up by the team I am not allowed to talk about , I'll be devastated .
Whilst we're conservatively stuffing around playing wait and see .

Let's see where do I start?

Bold comment 1 - show me the video that proves this egg
Bold comment 2 - this is the big question isn't it?
Bold comment 3 - smartest thing you've said in this post
Bold comment 4 - I think you mean snaffled. :)
Bold comment 5 - Who do you mean The Storm, Manly, Broncos - egg I can't guess!! :lmao
Bold comment 6 - How do you know we haven't offered him any incentive to stay on?

In all seriousness egg, I do wish Franklin all the best and hope to God he carves up!
Good on you for being so passionate about his ability, just hope you are right. :)

Read the article at the start of thread
"Rudolf added that not only is Pele explosively strong, "he's also chased down Blayke Brailey a few times in [conditioning] games. "

If he was a FAT lard ball I'd be worried , I think he'll be fine at defence too ( enter Burgess ? )

Bold comment 3 response .
Just a fact , but not a concern either

Bold comment 4 response .
Yes Yes Snaffled was what I should have written ( give ya that ;) )

Bold comment 5 response .
Roosters , always cop slack for my predgeses against them ( I know " prejudice " - had to throw that in :) )

Bold comment 6 response .
You could be right , I was just saying ( for me ) he WILL be a keeper and I'd like to see locked in for longer , as soon as we can

In all seriousness Chad, I do wish Franklin all the best and hope to God he carves up ALSO ! ( Agree )
I think we balance each other to a certain extent .
I'm by nature an optimist and risk taker ( like pushing limits surfing ) ALL IN based on intuition and logic .
Whilst yourself seems to favour pessimism and caution ( nothing wrong with that either )
ALL GOOD - it's only a forum for opinions .

Also don’t forget about Daniel Vasquez, another to add to the depth chart. Front row is ****ing stacked.

Our own little odd couple.

Just needs a 90s sitcom jingle.

I've only watched 2 games of him, in one- Def was poor and it wasn't V men. I'm tipping he was injured, and with the weight loss regime, and good guys around him, that should improve in the top grade.

I haven't forgotten about him but I also gotta say, I don't really care about him.
Was reasonable for a debut last season but I don't see how he gets a run this year unless we get decimated by injury (no offence Vasquez but I hope the main thing I see from you in 2021 is social media content and good Jets stats).
Not excited enough about this fella I'd care if we lost him at this stage, entertaining enough to keep around though.
And as I said, handled an NRL debut pretty well.

As you should be, he hasn't played a game yet! But there is still a place for the big units, especially if you can afford to run them in short stints. The smaller and more mobile others get, the easier it is to run over them.

I'd say gone are the days of Lolo/Hass like players playing 70-80, but you'd still want both those guys in your side on playing ability, not so much off field with Hass.
